So is Seer's Lantern worth adding to a commander deck? I know it's and only taps for
and other cards like Mind Stone and Thought Vessel only cost
but is the scrying ability worth the extra mana?
The seers Lantern isn't worth it at that cost, use cards like Crystal Ball if you want the scary effect.

Ok didn't think about crystal ball for scrying I was looking at it as a mans rock and yea for the cost it just don't cut it on ether front

Like zyphermage said it depends on your deck. Are you trying play lots of ramp then run it, why not. Are you trying to manipulate the top of your deck and ramp then yes it's good. If you're not ramping it's not that good and if you're not manipulating the top of your deck then it's not good. On its own in edh it's only average. My opinion it's not worth it. I'd much rather add any ramp like Paradise Plume that gets you life. Or the Chromatic Lantern witch might be the best colorless card in edh now that the 4th rule has been removed.

It's great in Pauper EDH, pretty mediocre in standard EDH.

I think it has its place in the right deck or just the right deck building situation.
For example, if you are culling cards down to 100 Seer's Lantern basically a mana rock with half a Crystal Ball stapled on it. So it saves you a card slot.

in most cases id run Chromatic Lantern for the color fixing (enough things tap for <> in the edh decks that need it) or Commander's Sphere
but depending on the type of deck i could see Seer's Lantern being a card if you were narrow on card slots and wanted scry and a mana rock (while passing over better versions of both) ... Darksteel Pendant scry's for half the cost and is destroy proof

I am personally a fan of Darksteel Pendant, can generally only be dealt with by bounce effects or targeted exile effects.

Well depends on the deck but just for a repeat scry ability wouldn't you want Crystal Ball instead?
