So is it true? Is the new kozilek illegal in edh?

It was actually from a post from a different forum. Someone said he wasn't legal. I couldn't find anything on it from the Google machine and I had a sneaking suspicion that it was just a tappedout delay but I had to make sure.

I mean that would be bullshit anyways... Since A) he's colorless which doesn't help out as much as one would think as a commander (albeit he can play in any deck), B) he requires you to tap him, pay and discard a card to counter, which doesn't work out well at 10 mana, and C.) he's nowhere near as good of an attacker as the first Kozilek, nor as good of a card. And if original Kozi ain't banned, there is no way in hell this dude will be banned, especially with Prophet gone.
Dude you got trolled, especially since the committee that bans cards in edh may put a card on a watch list, but they won't ban it until it becomes a game warping issue. And considering he was literally just released, something tells me he won't be banned.

dbpunk kozilek doesn't need to tap in order to counter a spell..../ he's not that bad .

You have no reason to put the new Kozilek in any commander deck other than flavor or simply owning a copy. Even if I were working with a $100 budget and could include him in a deck for free, I don't think he'd make the cut. He's pretty terrible...

Ive had decent success with him. i usually get him out turn 2 or 3 and have about 20 cards in hand so his effect is nice but he does start to lose value as the game goes on.

I don't think anyone here besides TheDevicer really knows how the new Kozilek works. Lmao. You don't tap him to counter stuff. I can't think of a single way in commander where you can viable "cast" him on turn 2 or 3 with 20 cards in hand. And also, there's no way his cast trigger is relevant if you have 20 cards in hand.

I run flash and academy rector. Allows me to grab omniscience. I make sure to run enough tutors and draw power cards to allow me to more often than not get omniscience on the field by turn 2 or three and cast kozilek or a draw spell to potentially grab more draw power or a tutor for zokilek. More often than not this is my turn 2 or 3. His card draw is useless in most cases but having a 12/12 with menace and the ability to discard a card with X to counter X with a ton of cards in hand during the early turns just lets me control the game every step of the way.

In highly competitive groups, you simply won't be able to resolve flash like that. In addition, if you could regularly cheat in Omniscience like that, Kozilek would be one of the last things you'd want to do. Why not just win the game? Besides, what you've described just now is essentially clogging your deck with 10-mana cards. That's never a good thing. I can guarantee your ACMC will end up greater than 2.5 and that's something you never want to do if you're playing in group where you're going for potential T2 wins.
I don't want to be a dick, but even in the perfect scenario you described, Kozilek is still trash. Besides, if you're running the standard suite of hyper efficient tutors, you're still talking about what essentially amounts to a two-card combo. There is no way in hell that you're able to pull that off regularly. Heck, even Hermit decks can't do that all of the time.
C'mon mate...

Lol it's for casual play. I wouldn't touch that deck with a 10 foot pole for competitive. It's all about control and then big fat. I have only played it maybe 10 times but as I stated, it's common to see an early flash rector.
Side note, I totally forgot to change a bunch of junk in sydri. Totally understand where you were coming from.

No. TO doesn't update their legalities on time. If you want the official word on banned cards, check Gatherer. New Kozilek is perfectly legal in Commander.
