Nayan eggs fo real

Commander (EDH) forum

I've long been a fan and casual player of Mayael the Anima , but in times to move on, a new C19 commander, Atla Palani, Nest Tender caught my eye. Curious, I began building around her and she's loads of fun! My enthusiasm even sparked my competitive friend to build a combo-based version. I made a list, but in compliance with forum rules I won't post my decklist… I'll just say that I'm REALLY interested in tuning the deck since she really requires a very delicate balance of everything. I'll just look forward to having some discussion here? She's still pretty new, and not overly competitive, so there's not a ton of resources out there for help. Anyhow, thoughts? Comments? Resources?

Do you think the general idea would be to have lots of creatures with 4+ toughness and then using the CMDers ability make eggs and fire off red sweepers like Pyroclasm / Volcanic Fallout / Firespout ect ect to ideally get valuable creatures?

yea, I started the deck with my Mayael deck having 27 creatures with power 5+... and have since been whittling that number down, and including a couple sac outlets like Goblin Bombardment and Skullclamp . I'm actually going for more wraths than little boomers like the cards you mentioned. I've actually played Cataclysm a few times for added jank, popping my eggs and giving me a board while putting everyone else back to the stone age.

The tricky part about the deck, like I mentioned, is the balance. I need protection because of how essential Atla is to the deck, removal for all things, sweepers, big guys (but not TOO many to where your hand can become too cumbersome), value cards for tempo and advantages, and lots of ramp spells (because popping eggs for elves just feels bad).

I had considered a token strategy, employing more Populate mechanics for the egg tokens and/or other tokens (wider board strategy)... but I'll save that for another day if the deck proves ineffective.

Marauding Raptor is sweet with Atla. Especially if you run Polyraptor and either Purphorose or Impact Tremors

There's some card that creates a bunch of dragon eggs, but I forgot what its called........

Dragon Broodmother prob. In my deck's current form, I want eggs, but not so many that my deck falls out of control. Again, delicate balance! Having some changelings makes for interesting dynamic, like using Shields of Velis Vel against a wrath, making all your guys eggs, turning a wrath into a board builder.

The best thing about this deck is watching opponents throw all their resources at 0/1 egg tokens, trembling in fear, choosing not to attack just because I HAVE an egg on board! It's really amusing.

there's also Nesting Dragon .

the scoring system at my LGS for commander games punishes people for playing infinite combos, so my build is a grindier approach (more fatties, less focus on spamming eggs)
