I want to build a new edh deck but having trouble finding one I like. Was wondering what some of ur favorite commanders are.

I really like playing Azami in a fast combo deck, Brago in a mana denial strategy, and Geist in a tempo-control shell. They're all rather decent, but not top of the line.

I love my Melek, Izzet Paragon deck, as well as my Sidisi, Brood Tyrant deck. I am also currently trying out a pillow-fort/control-y Isperia, Supreme Judge. Definitely not the most powerful general, but seems for for a change-of-pace.

Think about getting out of your comfort zone...

Maybe try shaking up colors a bit. You seem to really like black, so try choosing a commander that doesn't have that color. Maybe even pick an enemy color like white or green. You also seem to like winning with creatures, so maybe pick a commander more focused on combos.

Even exploring these options might give you inspiration.

How about playing something simple like Rakdos, Lord of Riots? I built one to mess around with and ended up loving it.

Try Selvala, Explorer Returned I have a version of it using enchantments and a lot of token generators to build up crazy board presence. You can ramp really fast and start playing high mana cards early plus you have various options to draw a ton of cards. The deck is not expensive, too.

Mishra, Artificer Prodigy, greatest commander ever!

Mishra can be pretty damn mean, actually. He is in the correct colors to steal artifacts from other people's libraries and annoys people who want to counter artifact spells.

ComradeJim270 your absolutely right I love black lol I'm intrigued by mishra but am confused how it works if you can only have one card how would he work exactly?

For Mishra you run stuff like Praetor's Grasp to steal EDH staple cards like mana rocks, then cast them so you can get yours too. You can also use artifacts and enchantments that counter spells unless a cost is paid, and just get your stuff from the yard as soon as it is countered.

Mishra, Artificer Prodigy + Possibility Storm is absurd. As is Mishra, Artificer Prodigy + Nether Void Mishra is actually a decent combo general no one expects. Kind of unfun to face though.

As for my favorite decks, I run legends I like more than just what is powerful. I enjoy Tasigur, the Golden Fang, he is a fast general to get out and wonderful for control. He is really the only Sultai colored general useful for a control deck and wow can he pull his weight as a mana sink. If someone at the table is gunning after anyone but you, suddenly you've become accomplices and its wonderful.

I run mono-white Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite with tokens and anthem effects. I mainly play her for flavor, but when she does eventually hit the field she can absolutely turn games around, even if responded to at instant speed. The rest of the deck is reliable enough that I don't need to rely on her though.

Thada Adel, Acquisitor is a ton of fun. I play a merfolk tribal deck and she is just lovely. Cheap, evasive and being able to steal your opponents equipments and manarocks is a great package. Add in that she belongs to one of the game's most supported tribals and its a potent deck.

Vorel of the Hull Clade is in a really nice spot between effective and gimmicky that I've had great fun building around and playing with. My first commander was Karador, Ghost Chieftain and he was spectacular until everyone else in my group started playing him and I just got tired of seeing him.

My First Commander was Kaalia the Vast which is pretty good for cheating in big demons, angels and dragons. I've also had fun with Mayael the Anima, Ghoulcaller Gisa, Karador, Ghost Chieftain and most recently Aurelia, the War Leader. All of these I think are great Commanders. What you might want to consider doing, as strange as it will sound would be to look through a list of Commander eligible creatures in any color or combination of colors you like (there are a lot of these so do this on a day when you have nothing else planned) and see which ones you think would be most entertaining to play (Because EDH is about fun after all),which would have the most insane effects/deck ideas to use in a game and which would be the most affordable to build around (if money is an issue). Also look for an EDH Banned list to make sure your commander or support cards are actually legal. There aren't many banned Legends in EDH but there are a few. Finally, make sure you read the card before making it your commander as there are some cards (like Phage the Untouchable) that cause chaos in Commander, but can only be played from your hand.

Kaalia is probably not a good commander unless you're able to handle having the whole table gang up on you.

The "Rafiq problem" is real.

As for Phage, you can play her from the command zone and not lose. It just takes some weird shenanigans. Torpor Orb and Platinum Angel help.
