Paging all Riku players!

Commander (EDH) forum

Hey all! I have a question for you.

I have a whole bunch of RUG cards that I’m not using, and I’m considering turning them into an EDH deck with Riku of Two Reflections at the helm.

So, experienced Riku pilots: What do you like or dislike about Riku? What are your win conditions, besides the obvious candidates like Avenger of Zendikar? How do you maintain flavor and synergy, rather than let it morph into just goodstuff?

Thanks! I know we EDH players like nothing more than debating commander choice, so I look forward to our conversation (:

Ok so I don't have a Riku deck but because of the world of commander I have a pretty good idea of how he works and how to build around him. Yes cards like Avenger of Zendikar would work. Also get cards like Blade of Selves and anything close to Clone. Maybe having a copy of Biovisionary just to have a fun win condition! Is there anything else specific that you want to cover on this topic?

Clones as a sub theme way I took him. Gigantoplasm is a fun underused card. And in casual games, him coping Master Biomancer is fun. I make my biomancer clone a 10/10, now my creatures come into play with lots of counters. Just realize it changes the power toughness permanently until used again.

Mine was weird. Really weird. Eternal Dominion copied 15+ times weird. Burn at the Stake for 15 copied thrice or more for each opponent weird.

Basically I ran token and spell doublers. Loads of fun and a janky deck that was cheapish to build.

Sweet -- love the feedback!

I'm thinking about making the Riku build a 4-power-matters build, with the new Goreclaw, both Surraks, Yasova, and the Ferocious cards from Khans. I'll also copy spells and tokens for value, but that will mostly be as an afterthought, I think. I'll share the list once it's put together.

Honestly to me he always seemed like a fun bounce commander. Like just being able to bounce your creatures with really strong etbs to cause damage and then also make tons of copies of them. Especially since GUR has stuff that like creature entering play and a lot of ramp.
