Purple EDH?

So, I assume you know the alternate color wheel. If not, then take a look:

Looking at this wheel, I immediately identify as purple. So, yes, it's sad and ironic that I identify with a MTG color that doesn't exist. That's where my quandary comes in.

What actual MTG colors would you say embodies Purple?

Once that question is answered, I wish to pair the colors with Green, but I know my best guess is going to be , and none of the current options fit the mold well. But that's just based on my guess that purple represents .

I'm trying to build a deck...but it's the case of choosing which colors to go.

That's the idea behind the alternate color wheel. I want to fully confirm what MTG colors Purple would be, and then which direction to take the deck, of course with Green being involved.

Honestly, every coming to mind is someone experimenting or creating something. Red and blue, if I'm correct, melded together creates purple, so I imagine it really fits. I don't think there is a good 'singular' color that best matches with purple.

However, I myself, choose to think that Purple is a lot like the Johnny persona. And I am a shameless Johnny. My favorite thing to do is look at all the cool cards that people forget or don't use and look for ways to make something new. That or, I want everything so I build a 5 color deck that does a singular combo that very very rarely does its job, but is sooooo satisfying when it does.

That's what I've been thinking all along too. The resemblance is at least slightly uncanny.

What I see in purple is, well, creation and imagionation. "Dream big" might fit this, so bomby spells are not excluded from this idea. I'm a Timmy who tries to avoid linear strategies, trying to find creative ways to win without relying on consistency too much. That's just a part of my main deckbuilding goal though: A deck that is a "living" embodiment of these three things: Creativity, Imagination, and Exploration (which is where Green comes in). Just being able to "explore" (the planes) via ramping, then using creativity in my games, and imagining the game like a story, ending with bomby effects. This is my ultimate ideal, and it's a very difficult niche to fill in.

I suggest messing around with a few 5 color decks or any of the 4 nephilim with Green. Look at a card/combo/etc and think, "how can I make this a reality" and just go for it. Find the commander that works best in that situation.

If you don't mind too much, shameless deck linkage. Show

Thusly, my final suggestion is to find that "something" and the rest of the deck will align itself.

Here's what I've come up with.

That "something" I found was to use each card as part of a story. I don't have it written up (I'm too tired) but I have written a brief synopsis of the story just to give you the idea of where I was going.

I love the idea of story themed decks.

I personally have a private deck that is mono-black but based on the Christian-esque religions of the world. Main reason why it's private is probably due to how distasteful it probably is for any who's Religion is a deep and sacred part of them and their personality. No need to get banned on a site I like for a story...

But! I like what you're doing. Once you have the time, I would love to get a better sense of the details, but yea. Looking good thus far!

@Eiti3 you won't get banned for trying to make a thoughtful comment on religions.

also, I'm an atheist (I won't be offended) can you share it with me plux? :D

Purple seems like science that will betray you. Grixis?

Might you two explain why Grixis best represents purple? How does black fit in?

Alright, so maybe the story deck wasn't the brightest idea I had. I liked the concept, but it throws the actual flavor of the game into a mess. I couldn't keep going because of it. Back to the drawing board.
