Rule 4:
Commander (EDH) forum

So, I notice that everyone's kinda annoyed about Prophet being banned (God knows I was) but something people may have missed, is that there was a rule change as well. According to this article, the rule designating that if you would produce colored mana outside of your commander's colors has been removed. Thoughts?

For the most part, people seem to be pretty ok with the change, except that it is causing some confusion for certain players who don't fully understand what it means, and think it means that they can run lands of any type now.
It's been discussed pretty extensively here already. Not sure if we need a second thread.

People are taking about that too.
I don't care one way or another personally. It gives a few decks a little more power, but it makes it much harder to intentionally produce colorless in a heavily colored deck. There is already enough confusion among bads about the difference between and
we don't need to confuse them further by saying "oh yeah in commander and commander only, as long as you aren't in 5-color you can have Birds of Paradise produce
by taking advantage of a flavor rule."

Ok I hadn't seen that on there before. I'm just gonna go ahead and delete this, sorry.

I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. However, it makes me wonder if they'll leave off coloured fetchlands alone now. Sheldon Menery wanted to make them illegal from a flavor standpoint but this change goes entirely against that logic.
I do know that Sen Triplets decks are really stupid now though.

Sen triplets only seem dumb. I thought they would become amazing but after testing all it does is open up 2 card slots in a deck that's already kinda meh. Rule 4 being removed from what I've seen is positive. The prophet banning is different. The people who are mad at the prophet banning either A) don't understand just how good flash and untapping for 5 mana is or B) don't know how to play without one. Experienced players all knew it was coming. Their main complaint was that it took too long

All I know is Seedborn Muse and Vedalken Orrery/ Leyline of Anticipation still don't solve the issue. Although, makes it harder to get them both online and work like Prophet, but still, the issue is there.

You are talking about 9-10 mana (10 for Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir as the flash enabler) and 2 cards in a 100 card singleton format to get the same effect. It is much weaker. I don't feel that Prophet deserved a ban but people saying that Seedborn + flash enabler are the same thing are way off base. I would also like to comment on the current price of Seedborn, screw the greed of people who decided to double the price of a casual card for a casual format.
