Siphoning Ideas

Commander (EDH) forum

Hello everyone my name's Braxlin and this is my first real post (outside of a comment)! Just recently joined and kind of coming back into the game of MTG after a 2 year hiatus, but thats another story for another day.

Anywho I need some help with a Commander deck I'm editing. It's vampires... And even though me and vamps got bad blood, I made a deck for em during part of the Return to Ravnica Block. So getting to the point finally my deck revolves around two ideas. 1st and foremost vampire creatures. Simple and whatnot, I smack people in teh face with R or B vampires and make them stronger in the process. The second function is the more interesting part I had in mind. I want to also take the role of an "elder" vampire in a sense.

See the decks I make have a theme in mind, some tell stories. And this one is the story of how my coven of vamps follow me and how I as a master vamp kill you. Cool no? I got the idea from a friend of mine a while back who had this odd vampire deck with no vampire creatures in it. Did some cool stuff and was essentially playing the role of a vampire. I thought it was dope and now here I am without a child as to making this deck work. So I come to you Forum of Tappedout for suggestions on siphoning spells and other black or red spells that might help me play a minor role as elder vampire in my deck.

Siphoning spells examples: Blood Tithe , Sanguine Bond , and Essence Harvest

Vampiric Stuffs and Thrall examples: Enslave ,Worst Fears , Curse of Stalked Prey , and Bloodchief Ascension

Ideas? Comments? Is this awesome like I think it is our is it aa dud??? Comment below

Blood Tribute is about the best you're going to get for EDH.

Sanguine Bond goes infinite with Exquisite Blood. If you run one you should run the other.

Sorin is also great for the theme, if you want to run Planeswalkers. If you only doing Black/Red then Sorin Markov is the only one you can use but he is great. His negative with Sorin's Vengeance can kill anybody in one turn, regardless of their starting life total.

@canterlotguardian: totally forgot about that card

@Jay: I do have those two in my deck, I should have my decklist up in a little while. I thought I would have some time before work to do so but ran outta time.

@iAzire: I would use Exquisite Blood but i promised myself I wouldn't, only B/c it felt a little cheap. I am planning on running Sorin Markov though and that combo would've never occurred to me, so thanks for that .

I'm still curious about other things I might be able to accomplish Vampire-wise though. Like what kind of control does R run? Or can I use Sudden Spoiling and have it be thematically accurate as a vampiric thing? (Meaning can vampires do that sort of thing)??? I tend to overthink sometimes so yeah lol. Any more suggestions, any out of the box ones are especially welcomed.

Oh and before I forget I will eventually have a decklist available in the comments or linked rather. Thanks for the feedback so far guys

Oh and what do you guys think about creatures/enchantments with extort abilities? Can I legally run those cards in my deck?

As a Rakdos player, I love cards like Curse of Stalked Prey, I run it in any Red creature Type deck, Dragons, Vampire and the like. And Blood Tribute is a Vampire deck must as well as Exquisite Blood. For versatility, I like Drain Life Soul Burn and of course Consume Spirit, because they add to the theme but also double as creature removal. As a sideboard card, if your facing a ton of creatures, I like Liability, adds to the loss when your opponent looses creatures.

Deck has been finally updated!

And to ChainerDragon65 Thanks for those suggestions I'll probably end up ordering some of those cards since my local card shop didn't have any
