For as long as I have been playing TCGs, I have primarily enjoyed one thing: exploring the unknown.

A lot of people enjoy winning or having a theme; I enjoy neither, which confuses a lot of people.

This often frustrates others when my deck is not meta enough and they ask what the heck am I doing, and frustrating when I try to give the people who care about theme pointers about this spicy tech I know about; they don't want it.

Case in point, I've always been an outsider in this respect, and I don't think I have met much of any people who try as feverishly as I to just focus trying to take ideas that currently are garbage and modify them to make them good and then move on to the next thing.

So, if anyone ever wants to make their deck outlandish, wild, crazy, beyond what is normal, I am here.

I post and comment a lot on peoples' decks trying to inform them about what I have to offer, but few accept.

Earlier today I told a guy how to make an infinite turn combo deck in Golgari colors. Will it be successful? I don't know. Will it be spicy? Absolutely.

In my eternal boredom and quest for the unknown, I continue.

TL;DR If anyone wants me to help make their deck weird, I can help.

Reznorboy I have to thank you deeply for your strange ideas. You gave me the inspiration for my favorite deck to date and got me interested in deck building again. Stay weird.

That means a lot to me; thank you.

But seriously: What was the deck and what did I do?! lol

Manaless and Bananaless

You were talking about fusing EDH, Manaless Dredge, and Bolas's Citadel on a forum thread. Everyone in my playgroup gets a kick out of it, and it is entertaining to play in a nonsensical kind of way.

Holy crap, you built it?!

Sounds EPIC.

I remember now.

Well, I'll admit that I don't really know how to do that...

BUT

I know a pretty similar... equally spicy idea.

Basically, a while ago I tried to make a deck with Rayne, Academy Chancellor.

People crapped on my idea (not unusual) but here it is.

Basically, you use blue tutors such as Long-Term Plans to go get Spellskite, and use artifacts to give it indestructible and to provide life-gain. The rest should explain itself.

I like it... I'll do some testing thanks for the idea!

Honestly you sound like a really cool person and I will def come to you if I need help making something insane. Sorry that people don't take your crazy shenanigans the way they are meant to be taken

I get you man! I always get wierd looks from my playgroup since I favor fun over strength and I personally don´t care about winning, as long as I can do wierd and funny stuff along the way :)

I´m not a commander person but please, PLEASE keep doing what you do! Major kudos to ya!

Actually, Idk if this is something you can help me with, but im looking into a pioneer deck built around Aggressive Mining with chaining Animist's Awakening do draw through your deck until you hit a Jace, Wielder of Mysteries or a Thassa's Oracle and win. I could also use Valakut Exploration as a secondary wincon. Support cards could look like Nissa, Steward of Elements to hit what I want with my draws and card like growth spiral to ramp. Maybe even Cultivate and Roiling Regrowth. What do you think? I know no idea is too janky but this might be it.

Reznorboy I'd love to hear the details of that Golgari turns deck. Sounds wonderful :)

ChannelFireball,

Practically any Golgari commander could work, but Belbe, Corrupted Observer from the new set was what came first because of her ability to generate mana "for free" once a turn with cards like Lim-Dul's Hex.

Basically, you would use tutor chains to go get Ugin's Nexus, and something along the lines of Krosan Grip. You'd blow up your own Ugin's Nexus, and then use Mirror of Fate to get it back from exile, and cards like Gaea's Blessing and Primal Command to get back your Mirror of Fate. You would make sure to only put cards on top that you wanted, and play enough draw spells to draw back the essential pieces, and the mana given for each new turn would take care of that. Incidentally, the Lim-Dul's Hex would eventually kill everyone else.

IWanttoPlayAlltheDecks,

I don't play Pioneer whatsoever,

but assuming that it's in between Modern and Standard in terms of power level, I assume most games will be over by turn 5. Assuming.

I looked at the deck and you will not be able to win at that rate, primarily because even the key combos using Animist's Awakening requires mana to do, because it costs a green and puts a maximum of one mana out per one mana in. I looked and saw that Nyxbloom Ancient is legal in Pioneer. I think the only way you could viably make this work in a combo sense is if you were to first get Nyxbloom Ancient out and then start using Animist's Awakening and draw spells like Opt to get more and actually combo to win.

As an all-out combo win-con deck, I unfortunately do not think it is possible to storm for a win in this format with these cards.

It is possible you could make a control variant, however, major changes would be necessary.

The closest thing to what you are trying to accomplish that I know (or at least think) does work is combos using Auspicious Starrix and Temur Sabertooth in order to mutate the Starrix, get lands off the top, (you would be playing a lot of lands), and then bounce mutating creatures back with the sabertooth to do it again.

Best of Luck.

What is that golgari tuns deck, i don't know whether to call it a monstrosity or a piece of art.

I also got an idea from another person on a different thread about making a Sakashima of a Thousand Faces deck with grandeur cards like Oriss, Samite Guardian and Linessa, Zephyr Mage.

November 11, 2020 3:19 p.m.

King_marchesa that doesn't seem like it would work logistically. In order to copy a creature with Sakashima, you'd need to have said creature on board. How would you recur it to hand? Also which would be your commander?

I might just be missing something simple here; if so, can you please explain the specifics of the synergy? Thanks :)

You play the card with grandeur, then you play sakashima which would be your commander. Then you bounce the card with grandeur back to your hand with something like Crystal Shard then you can discard the card with grandeur to activate the copy of it on the battlefield. This works best if you have a way to keep returning the grandeur card back to your hand from the graveyard.
