Unused Combos

Are there any combos in your decks that never get used because the game ends so soon? For me, it's Drogskol Reaver, Horizon Chimera, and Laboratory Maniac. I've only gotten all three of them on the field once, and even then I didn't actually get the combo off.

Combos like that don't get played because players looking to combo usually value efficiency and utility. These types of combos just don't work that well because of a high number of required cards, lots of points of potential interaction for opponents, awkward card types for tutoring purposes, low utility, and high converted mana cost. There is a subset of magic players who chase 8 card combos in EDH, but those guys are few and far between.

You're most likely going to find the clunky combos in metas that are heavily based in battlecruiser magic because they're not feasible to go for regularly and some groups feel that having access to one or two ways to end the game helps alleviate some of the groaning that can happen when 6 man tables develop complex board states.

I don't have any combos like this because I'm very much a combo player in EDH and run standard fare decks for the most part. When I don't do that, I'm usually running some dumb attempt at actually pulling off true control in EDH without stax. That means hard casting Ugin, the Spirit Dragon, Elspeth, Sun's Champion, Entreat the Angels, etc.

Parallax Wave + Peregrine Drake + Mulldrifter + Nevermaker is a combo I technically have in my deck that I've only got off once while goldfishing and never during an actual game. Actually, I didn't know it was a combo until I stumbled across it while goldfishing. They're all cards that I play anyways that happen to go infinite.

The main reason I run those three is because they're such a fun interaction that I noticed while testing the deck once. It's really tricky, but really fun.

lol, it's the reverse combo of Sanguine Bond and Exquisite Blood with Lab Maniac.

I will say this though, I effing hate losing to Lab Maniac combos. Mainly because I always am like 1 mana short or tapped out to hit a Counterspell or Flusterstorm

00xtremeninja I think you might like the deck it's housed in.
