Your guide to "Commanders"
Commander (EDH) forum

Typically, a commander must be a legendary creature (except for the planeswalkers from that one commander set), but if your commander can search for another card, you can build your deck around that card instead.
So here are all the options for making noncommander cards into your commanders:
(+/- , , , and/or ): Pick any Ally creature card thanks to General Tazri.
: Pick any Rebel permanent card thanks to Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero.
: Pick any noncreature artifact card thanks to Arcum Dagsson, any Ninja card thanks to Higure, the Still Wind, or any instant thanks to Kaho, Minamo Historian.
: Pick any card thanks to Maralen of the Mornsong or Sidisi, Undead Vizier.
: Pick any Equipment card thanks to Godo, Bandit Warlord or any Dragon permanent card thanks to Zirilan of the Claw.
: Pick any creature card thanks to Yisan, the Wanderer Bard.
: Pick any creature card with flying thanks to Isperia the Inscrutable.
: Pick any legendary card thanks to Captain Sisay.
: Pick any creature card thanks to Momir Vig, Simic Visionary.
: Pick any enchantment card with converted mana cost 3 or less thanks to Zur the Enchanter.
: Pick any Dragon permanent card thanks to Scion of the Ur-Dragon or any Sliver card thanks to Sliver Overlord.
If the card you build around and get with one of these commanders, you might need your commander to find a card that can bring that card back to the battlefield, so use MagicalHacker - List of All Recursion Cards to make your noncommander available to you even after it goes to the graveyard.
Feel free to share your builds using these ideas here! I'm currently building Arcum Dagsson Lantern Control, and I might build some others too...

I have never seen her played, which sucks because she seems like a lot of fun! Plus, it's finally a deck that could main deck a Telepathy for actual synergy.

The only thing though is that I don't like tutoring so much. Besides, I played against a Sakashima the Impostor deck that maindecked Telepathy.

Yeah these noncommander decks aren't for the shuffling averse lol
I think it's a fun card and can see play, but rarely does it synergize with a deck, you know?

That is true. I could try to run it myself, but I just don't have the room.

This is an excellent resource! Thanks a ton. =D
I collect things like this here: The Obscure List of Obscure Lists. So, if you don't mind, I'm gonna add this and your list of recursion cards to the collection.
Also, if you have/made/know about any more resources, please let me know. There's at least several people who follow the list and like seeing new stuff added. =)
Thanks again!

Oops! I came here looking for a commander to use the Rishadan Cutpurse vertical cycle to punish those on mtgo who tap out out of laziness (will be using Momir Vig, Simic Visionary), and I realized I never posted my lantern control deck I built: Lantern Control in Commander?

I may or may not build Isperia the Inscrutable. I don't know why, but I've been focusing on recently.
