A new Dual idea
Custom Cards forum

So, this is an idea I had for a new cycle of custom dual lands. I think card disadvantage is a big enough drawback? Anyway, I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Well, this isn't meant to be for real life play. If anything they'd be in a custom cube. But you may be right. Maybe having it enter tapped? Or I can rework it some

If it's in a cube, then it's fine. Consider this, you get two of these in your opening hand and you can have four mana by turn two.

Yeah. But only 3 cards in hand (which may or may not be basic lands), with no spells cast so far. From what I can see, they are very strong early game and very weak mid to late game, when you have many less expendable cards. Also, at rare, it will be hard to find more than one of these, let alone two of the same color combo.
I think the scarcity of them will keep the power in check. But I don't want to make busted cards, so I will have them enter tapped. That should be adequate.
Another completely different idea, which could replace this cycle:

As you can tell, I'm really trying to get some fast mana with a proper drawback

I like the second version more but I think adding a way to tap for colorless so that it untaps would seal the deal.

Pretty much what Hacker said. The first version is quite frankly ridiculous. The second one is balanced, but you want to be able to have access to mana at all times, especially in Dimir colors.

the first is too powerful, and the second is a little under, I'd say.

This is basically a Mox. I have a feeling that it may be a bit too powerful for anything but Vintage.
