My goal with this card was to make a zero drop 0/0 that could pump itself, but also still be fair. Any suggestions welcome.
Boneyard Demon
Casting Cost 0
Creature-Demon
Boneyard Demon is black
Boneyard Demon gets +0/+1 for each land you control.
Boneyard Demon gets +1/+0 for each creature in your graveyard.
At the beginning of your upkeep, you lose X life, where X is Boneyard Demon's power.
0/0

Thanks for the input. I was considering this as a mythic in a set I'm working on, but I didn't know if this would be a good idea.

JWiley129: Hermit Druid may be the abusable one in that scenario, though.
The card still seems a little to good. It is really fast in decks that can fuel the graveyard.

Any suggestions to balance it out? It was originally going to be a Memnite clone that was "gets +1/+0 if you control another creature" and "gets +0/+1 if you control a land" as a 0/0

something that works like putrid leech or lotleth troll would be fairer

Broken? Not as badly as most custom cards, actually. If your combo off Hermit Druid like JWiley129 said and your opponent has an Unsummon, Path to Exile or a tap target creature ability, you've just lost the game.
And then there's the problem that this guy still has only 2 toughness on turn 2, and doesn't have trample or first strike, so if your opponent can block with any 2 power creature on turn 2, again you've just lost the game. Basically, if you're opponent is on-curve, you're dead. The problem with this card isn't that it's broken, but that it makes for a glass cannon combo that is VERY easy to disrupt in potentially game-ending ways.
I would retool it to "Boneyard Demon gets +1/+1 if you control a swamp" and "When a creature card is put into a graveyard, put a +1/+1 counter on Boneyard Demon."
I would probably replace the life-loss effect with "Upkeep: 1B, but that's because I like slow games. Life-loss is fine.

How about something like a 0 mama 0/1 that allows you to 'pay 2 life and exile a creature from your graveyard: gets +1/+0 until end of turn' and pay one life and sac a land for +0/+1 until eot...

What if he got defender as long as he has 8+ power? Flavor wise he gets too fat and lazy :)

This is the kind of card that gets better the further back you go in terms of format.
I would laugh my butt of if this was printed and allowed in formats with Hermit Druid. Yeah sure if I combo and you, my opponent, do absolutely NOTHING (no blocker, no removal, no counter, no discard) then I kill you. But if you have exile, counter, destroy, discard or your own combo then you can win without having to put yourself at risk of killing yourself on upkeep. Oh and did I mention, this Hermit Druid strategy looses to Fog? Yeah i'll be losing at least 40 life on my upkeep. Yeowsh.
I love the card and don't think that Hermit Druid is enough of a reason not to put it in your set, unless your designing for legacy/vintage. In which case, go for it! Why? Legacy/Vintage is all busted compared to regular magic. More combos=more format. This can backfire so spectacularly that I think it's worth the risk and fair to the opponent, who will just let you lose all that life, cast fog and then take an almost free win.

Yeah, the set is Christian themed, and this was meant to be a minion creature for Gluttony, so I might actually do "if this creature has power higher than 8, it can't attack or block." to fit in with the fat and lazy flavor. Thanks, smackjack

Card is busted. Anything that can be cast for free generally is. Here's a scenario for you. T1, play this guy with a land. T2, play another land and Hermit Druid. T3, activate Hermit Druid to flip my library upside down in my graveyard and attack for a bajillion. Way too abusable. Also gets stronger thanks to the Delve mechanic, way too good.
