Ok, heres how this works. You create a card to the specifications of the person above you, then list your own card idea for the next person. I'll start.

Variety XX

Sorcery

If X is 2 or lower, draw X cards. If X is 3, put X +1/+1 counters on X target creatures. If X is 4, return X target creatures from your graveyard to the battlefield. If X is 5 or more, Variety deals x damage to target creature or player. If X is 10 or more, you win the game.

Create a life gaining multicolored Turtle with power twice it's toughness or vice versa.

Ixalan limited needs a "build-around-me" uncommon that will help facilitate the cross-section between Pirates and Merfolk. Needs to be blue/black, and preferably have strong flavor to catch players' eyes

Piratical Ways

Whenever a Pirate you control deals damage to a player, choose one -

  • Hoard 1 (Create a colorless Treasure artifact tokens with ", Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.")

  • Gain control of up to two target Treasure tokens an opponent controls. If this ability would be countered, instead that opponent loses 3 life.


I think the reason for the difference is so that they aren't as explosive. With the Gold, you can sacrifice immediately which limits use on low cost cards. You couldn't have something like Blackbeard from above because you could be generating a bunch of excess mana in colors that don't traditionally have that kind of ramp.

Nevertheless, make a card that slays those darned Merfolk who will not walk the plank!

When ~ enters the battlefield if you weren't already the monarch, you become the monarch and may destroy up to one target legendary creature an opponent controls. If you do, hoard X where X is that creatures Converted Mana Cost.

Make a monarch card that synergises with the whole privateer scheme, possibly a commander?

Level up planeswalker? (I'm sure one of you out there can find a way) or maybe one that synergizes with levelling.
