The concept is card advantage through card selection in the form land thinning

Here are some basic forms of this idea.

Burnt Before Harvest R

sorcery

search your linrary for up to ten land cards and exile them, then shuffle you library.

Weeder 1G

creature human (what class type).

T; search you library for 5 land cards and exile them, then shuffle your library.

2/2

Help and thoughts are appreciated on costs the amount of cards exiled and the concept also very intersted in your ideas on the concept, so please post thoughts suggestions and ideas.

While these are not bad, they will fail to be popular in constructed formats since they do nothing and are actual card disadvantage for no gain.

Also, pretty busted in any limited format, since thinning out an already thin deck will be quite impactful.

The best current card available for this is Selective Memory. It does not see any play anywhere, since it is not a desired effect - you generally do not put cards in the deck hoping you could get rid of them, but rather the opposite.

Why would I want to play Selective Memory or any of the cards you suggested?

Boza speaking only to the constructed power because granted limited loves them the biggest reason to want to use the card to game 1 to remove dead cards (removal against creatureless control) and never draw another land after a certain amount (strong particularly for control). It has some effect on cards like Oath of Nissa and COCO.

The idea is to ramp up the power until you would play it with the last resort being 'add a card' which makes a lot of things playable

Maybe this could be use to make Life from the Loam a deck (modern). Not standard but still; But even then Dredge is already a deck you can play in legacy.

How do you plan to get cards into constructed without them impacting limited? Nevermind that though:

  • You should never have 20 dead cards, 10 or 5 dead land cards in any deck. If you do, you should build the deck better, instead of including cards to remove those.

  • Planning to include a dead card to remove dead cards from your deck is kind of ironic and poor deckbuilding in general.

  • As a control deck, you rarely want to not draw lands. It will be much better, after a certain point to be able to draw more cards, rather than preemptively removing cards from the library.

  • Just adding draw a card to something does not make it playable, if the original effect is not desirable. For example, Footbottom Feast is a card that has "draw a card" stapled on to it, but does not see play anywhere.

Mana Severance is a thing. Used in the right situations it can be devastating. Being able to cast Goblin Charbelcher, then mana severance can pretty much lead to a win. I've seen that combo in edh a few weeks ago.

congratz. you just made Narset, Enlightened Master even more broken in edh.

and now Charbelcher can easily happen in modern.
