Chandra's Conundrum

A user started a thread entitled "Chandra's Conundrum," and I thought that that would be an awesome name for a card, so here is my creation based off that idea:

Chandra's Conundrum Show

This card is a modified version of Faithless Looting or Careful Study, with an additional mana added to its cost to give it an additional ability. The flavor of it is that Chandra must make a difficult decision, and the difficulty of that decision manifests as actual fire, due to her pyrotechnical abilities. I added the "at random" clause to the discarding effect to prevent the caster from simply discarding the card in their hand with the highest converted mana cost, making it necessary to use strategy when casting this card and also embodying red's focus on chance and randomness.

What does everyone else say about this card? How interesting of a design is it?

This feels worse if you are digging for certain cards, especially lands.

this cards seems...

bad? IDK, inconsistant at least.

usually it'll be a worse Wild Guess, but sometimes you'll pitch an eldrazi and deal 10ish for 2 mana?

it seems.... too inconsistent and uncontrolled to be used, printed or thought about in any meaningful way.

In a B/R deck with hand/library control effects (I think of Brainstorm, Scroll Rack and such) this card could mean a turn 3 win (with manaramp, and Draco , or the aforementioned Eldrazi); i would be overpowered.

But in other decks, it would be very inconsistent (though I do see a nice match up in a madness deck)

Perhaps: discard a creature card > draw a card, ~ deals damage to target creature or player equal to the power of the discarded creature (obviously, my phrasing needs work, but you'll get the idea)
