Custom planar cards based on commander decks
Custom Cards forum

Let's each build a planar card based on our commander decks! Here are the goals:
- The plane subtype should be the plane the commander is from.
- The plane should not be one-sided, but rather treat each player the same.
- The plane should synergize with its respective deck.
- The plane location and abilities should fit with the established lore.
- The plane should be unique and different from existing planes.
Why? Who cares?
Well not only is creating planes fun and exciting since it's definitely different than designing normal cards, it plays into what I believe to be a good solution to a common occurence .
Best of luck everyone!

Esper
Plane - Alara
All creatures are artifacts in addition to their other types.
Whenever you roll Chaos, search your library for an artifact card and put it in your hand, then shuffle your library.

The Tangle
Plane - New Phyrexia
If an effect would place one or more counters to be placed on a player or permanent, it places twice as many of those counters on that player or permanent instead.
Whenever you roll Chaos, double the number of counters on any number of target permanents or players.

Eh, I typo'd that. First line should read "If an effect would place one ore more counters on a player or permanent,...". Forgot to delete the phrasing I was typing over!

For my Dragonlord Silumgar deck (Anything You Can Play, I Can Play Better):
The Gudul
Plane - Tarkir
Whenever you planeswalk to The Gudul or at the beginning of the first upkeep of the game, each player puts cards from the top of his or her library into their graveyard until they put a permanent card with converted mana cost 6 or greater, then puts that card onto the battlefield under their control.
Whenever you roll Chaos, gain control of target permanent.

For my Teferi, Temporal Archmage, (Mischief Managed)
Time Rifts
Plane - Dominaria
Whenever a player draws a card that player returns that many non-planeswalker, non-land permanents they control to their owners hand.
Chaos: Target player draws 3 cards

Plane - Ravnica - Rakdos
At the beginning of each players' upkeep, that player chooses a player. The chosen player draws a card and loses 1 life.
When you roll Chaos, each card in the command zone can be cast for free and as though they had flash until end of turn.

Nivix, Aerie of the Firemind
Plane - Ravnica
Instants and sorceries that target players or permanents have overload. The overload cost is equal to the casting cost.
Whenever you roll Chaos, choose an instant or sorcery at random in a graveyard and cast it without paying its mana cost, if it targets a permanent or player copy it for each permanent you don't control or each opponent that it could target, each of those copies targets a different permanent you don't control or opponent.

Guys, all of these custom cards seem legit and balanced and neat, and seeing how WotC hasn't made any new planar cards in nearly 5 years, I think i want to make all of these into proxied cards lol
December 20, 2016 5:04 a.m.
That is awesome! I hope they provide you with a lot of fun! I am hoping for Planechase Anthology for Christmas this year. If I do get it, I might have to join in in the proxy train.

Another for Teferi, Temporal Archmage (Mischief Managed)
Phenomenon - Temporal Shifting
When you encounter Temporal shifting each player exiles all non-land, non-planeswalker permanents he or she controls. If a card does not have suspend it gains suspend. Then place X time counters on each card where X is the cards converted mana cost.
Reveal the top 2 Planar cards and the discarded planes. The active player chooses which plane to put into play.
Until a player planeswalks away from a Plane whenever a player rolls "planar chaos" that player may remove one time counter from any number of cards with suspend.
This phenomenon remains in play until any player planeswalks away from a plane.
Suspend (At the beginning of your upkeep, remove a time counter. When the last is removed, cast it without paying its mana cost.)
