Custom Powered Cube

Custom Cards forum

Here is a link to a custom cube I am currently working on. It is supposed to have a "better than Power Nine" power level, so take that into consideration when looking at the cards, and is meant to be drafted as an 8 player draft.

My current work is mainly flushing out some of the powerful archetypes. I have Storm, Hatebears, and Ramp solidly built so far, and need some help working out what needs to be added.

MagicalHacker DERPLINGSUPREME FAMOUSWATERMELON TheDevicer JWiley129 you guys have been really active in the this forum, what are your thoughts?

I dunno, these don't seem too good.

I mean really, what are you supposed to do with reanimation anyways? and especially with the death condition, it just isn't viable.

:\

DERPLINGSUPREME is there a specific card you were thinking of that you say isn't very viable?

...I was completely joking....

those cards are fucking broken as all shit, so I guess you succeed with your goal.

Nothing there is really completely topping the P9, but its getting very close, especially with that tapout faerie thing. that's basically a "skip a turn" card.

DERPLINGSUPREME your sarcasm was lost on me, my bad. And are you sure you didn't look at the other 60 images, as I'm quite sure there are some cards more powerful than even Black Lotus, such as Lotus Crown.

oops, didnt see teh "load 60 more" thing

you do realize how dumbly overpowered this cube will be?

I mean, power doesn't make things fun. silly interactions and such is fun.

seriously, those cards are fucking ridiculous, and TBH, would be kinda boring to have a cube of unless they were supported well.

That's what I need some help working out, how the support cards will pan out, and how to set up opposing strategies. If you can get to 15 mana turn 1 and hit a Vengeant Baloth into Ravager Titan, but that left you with no cards left and the opponent plays a Treachery-esque spell, then the game would be completely switched. I want to make it so that these are quicker games than a normal Vintage Powered cube, but also require a lot of careful planning, so that you don't overreach or under-assume.

Those 1 blue cmc phyrexian mana counter spells are not good. You really should think about taking phyrexian mana out of them. Even for an overpowered cube, playing effect outside your color is crazy. Seems like an interesting start, I would make sure to power up white and whatnot. Make it feel like low powered colors have cards you would want to see printed. Balance the colors when it is all said and done so the cube can be enjoyed multiple times.

Well... they're all pretty broken, so congrats on achieving that goal XD

Other than that, what exactly do you need? Individual cards, other archetypes, new mechanics?

If you're going for "better than powered" it seems you're on the right path. I mean, a strictly better Tendrils of Agony? That's a thing. I'd need some time to review the rest of the cards and can get back to you later.

fyi, Will of the Undying is literally Yawgmoth's Will. It's not even better or worse, it's literally the same.

It's not so much that the cards are broken, but that other cards are underpowered in comparison to the horrendously over powered ones.

JWiley129 it is actually strictly better, as it allows you to cast cards from your hand, then again from your graveyard. A slight upgrade, but still better nonetheless.

your wording on will of the undying is horrendous.

it really should read "if any cast cast from your graveyard this turn would be put into your graveyard, exile them instead."

the way its worded now would mean infinite judge calls if you play a permanent.
