Plasm Capture is a very interesting card, so I would like to create a creature-destroying version of it, a card that represents destroying a creature and then using its vital forces to empower a spell, and this is the result of my work.

I followed the exact formula of plasm capture, except for the colors and first ability. I also modeled it after Putrefy in terms of what types of permanents it can destroy, to give it versatility.

What does everyone else say about this card? How well did I do with it?

I like it a lot. I think it's better than Plasm Capture because you can time it yourself and get maximum value out of it rather than waiting for your opponent to play a spell that has a good enough CMC.

Hm. I like it. This is a really cool and functional card that doesn't strike me as broken. As it's kinda harvesting a creature's soul for mana, I might refer it to that creature's mana cost rather than the spell's CMC in any color, that way it actually feels like you're rendering it's soul into energy. As is, the mana loses it's personality when it gets color-fixed.

Egann, I could make it X colorless mana, since making the exact same mana in both color and amount would not make sense for a black/green card, in my mind.

That does seem to be the best compromise. Because you do control the timing it should be objectively weaker than Plasm Capture. From a flavor perspective I would prefer harvesting a Serra Angel to yield white mana and a Bond Beetle would yield green, but I can't think of a way to do that which is simple to state. Colorless mana is the most straightforward way.

Perhaps "Add X to your mana pool in any combination of that permanent's colors."

I have made the change, above, although this card still limits when the mana can be used, so I would not say that the caster of this card has that much more control over its timing in comparison to plasm capture.

What about having the card produce X mana of any one color? Green is usually the only color that can generate mana of other colors (the other colors usually generate more of their own color), so would that still be balanced? I feel that, for such a strict casting cost, the player should be able to get mana that has a color, not merely colorless mana.

Could work as well. Mechnaically, all of those are valid options, the only question is which one fits the flavor that you're going for.
