Declaration of Naught is a mean card in commander 1 vs 1. In multiplayer, you just look like a bully by targeting one person.

So here is how I use this card. I cast Declaration of Naught, and each player gets to vote on a commander (including my own) with my vote being last. The counter ability may be activated by any player and can be paid for by any color of mana.

Playing it this way makes me look like less of a goober and sometimes even a hero. Everyone has a good laugh when my own commander gets voted for (I only run this in my joke deck Kami of the Crescent Moon

What does everyone think of this?

while this is the most diplomatic way of doing this, I wouldn't suggest actually dong it.

people are stupid. People will vote on the biggest threat to themselves instead of a commander that will doom everyone.

its better to analyze which commander screws you over, and which deck rely heavily on their commanders. Taking those out will make it overall, safer for everyone.

So basically:

Card name - mana cost

Will of the council : Starting with you, each player votes for a commander.

Cost : Counter target spell with the chosen name. Any player may activate this ability.

My thoughts: it would probably need to be a little more expensive cast and use but not by much. Like 3 mana to cast and 2 generic to use seems fine. Also, just by the rules of how will of the council works, you gotta chose first but that also should be fine. People are still just gonna vote for the one that they hate the most. The problem you're going to run into is what if people can't agree on what to name? What happens if there's a tie? The card probably needs a second mode or a way to decide a tie breaker

Will of the council is just the ability I mentioned because of the voting, not necessarily using the keyword.

I have used this method in game before, and asked people in advance if we playtest using its new rules and all agreed. The tie never came up because there was always one commander everyone was afraid of.

I suppose in the case of the tie it would name the commander of the player who cast it! Yeah risky card but since the caster is voting last in my version that would not happen too often.
