The idea came to me and it felt so obvious that I had to share it with someone.

Desperate Measures (1)(W)

Enchantment

All your Plains have "(T): Add (R)(R) to your mana pool, sacrifice this land."

As you've worded it, you can untap the plains in response to the ability. I like the flavor though, and while bloom titan-esque shenanigans could happen, it's in a color with little time for them.

It should be worded as:

Plains you control have ", Sacrifice Plains: Add to your mana pool."

on the draw.
T1 plains

T2 plains [this]

T3 Knight of the White Orchid to put land down. play land for turn. Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. thats in standard.

if we back it up to modern id imagine that green could be splashed for Summer Bloom and Explore.

T1 Temple Garden/fetch into it. (we could add something like arbor elvish mystic if you really want max mana output, but for now i want to keep it simple.)

T2 Temple Garden/fetch into it play summer bloom. play 3 more plains or fetch into them. play [this].

T3 play plains. here you have options. you can sac land for up to 12 red or some combination with white. you can play karn/ugin/2 wurmcoil/eldrazi titan (not emrakul)/iona/elesh norn/etc.

if we assume it was Explore/Knight of the White Orchid instead of Summer Bloom then you produce slightly less but you have more options than standard offered. karn/ugin/1 wurmcoil/non-titan eldrazi.

i dont know what legacy does. but im sure its pretty stupid.

thats the first thing that came to mind for me. i dont know exactly how consistant youd get those results, but you could also use Life from the Loam and Crucible of Worlds and delve cards to get the most value out of it. Idyllic Tutor allows white to tutor this more consistantly.

aholder7, the Ugin play T3 wouldn't work. You've tapped 2 of the 4 Plains for W to play Knight of the White Orchid. That only leaves you 4 red mana available.

It is, though, Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger T5.

sorry i forgot about the Tap part of the ability. thought it was just sac the land add mana. but even with that, its a T4 ulamog by playing another plains on T4 after what i originally suggested.
