Diaochan, Vengeful Beauty

Legendary Creature - Human Advisor

Haste. Vigilance.

: Choose a creature attacking you or a planeswalker you control. Destroy that creature.

All creatures attack each turn if able.

1/1

Intended for EDH only.

...Didn't you already make a thread about this...?

I guess I would probably up the cost by though, because of the "creatures must attack" clause.

Red doesn't get Vigilance, and that ability is more White than Red.

JWiley129, Eternal Warrior?

So they do get vigilance, kinda.

I did include an old version of her in a different thread. I've changed her around a bit, but only her not the rest of the cards in that thread, so I thought I'd post the newer version :)

There are a few red cards with vigilance (though not many, and they are old) and it enables her to potentially fall victim to her own 'All creatures must attack' clause while still potentially destroying something.

I'm trying to give red some better stuff for EDH in particular (I think red doesn't scale into EDH as well so the other four colors), which is why her ability bends things a bit. I think vengeance is a pretty red theme, and red is supposed to be better than white and destroying creatures, so that's where this card came from.

Diaochan, Artful Beauty is fine, b/c her ability is not as oppressive. But she can enable a Mono-Red control shell. Your Diaochan is some melding of Fumiko the Lowblood and a white card. This card would make more sense as a RW legend as opposed to a mono-red card.

Coinman1863 - A card from Portal is not a good indicator of the color pie.

Old card designs have been left by the wayside for a reason. Red does not have Vigilance in modern cards. I disapprove.

I agree that vigilance feels white. I'm trying to give her the duality of potentially falling victim to her own rider without it ending up that you only can use her once.

Any ideas how I can get both in there?

Why not:

: Destroy target creature attacking you or a planeswalker you control. Use this ability only once each turn.

or

: Destroy target creature attacking you or a planeswalker you control. If this is the second time this ability has resolved this turn, sacrifice Diaochan, Vengeful Beauty.

That could work.

This wording needs work, but what about:

"Whenever a creature attacks you or a planeswalker you control, you may tap ~. If you do, destroy that creature.

At the beginning of your upkeep, if a creature attacked you or a planeswalker you control since your last turn, tap ~.

Creatures must attack each turn, if able."

It would make it so that nobody attacks you, she has to attack (and probably die), but as long as people attacked you, she remains and destroys something for revenge.

Wait - that doesn't work either.

hmm
