I'm making a cycle of kicker cards to use in a custom cube.

This is the Temur card:

The card was designed to give players options in casting the spell (like the Charms and Commands do), but staying true to a central colour.

You may not pay both kicker costs. I felt this was too overpowered, since allowing someone to not only burn a creature and power theirs up, but draw a card off of it as well is just too good for 3 mana.

What do you guys think? Should I continue the cycle?

This is REALLY good in Temur Delver. Like, really, really good.

This costs too little to cast for the amount of stuff it does. Kicker should be something like , and then change the text to something like Firespout's. There's a reason why cantrips always cost at least 2 more to cast than their non-cantripping equivalents (and when they don't, they're considered too powerful - see Remand). 3 mana for Mutagenic Growth, Shock AND a draw is way too cheap.

it should cost 0 and only have kicker effects.

square711 You can't have both effects. The text states that you may only pay one kicker cost as it doesn't say and/or, but only or. I even put a reminder that you can't pay both. It's either a Reach Through Mists, a Shock stapled to a Reach Through Mists, or a Mutagenic Growth stapled to a Reach Through Mists.

Not to mention it's sorcery speed.

I don't think it's clear enough that the kicker costs are mutually exclusive, but maybe that's just me being dumb, heh.

Yeah, that sounds fair. Very powerful, but still fair.

square711 That's just the way kicker works. You can only pay a kicker cost once (multikicker is a different thing) and mana can not be both g and r at the same time thus it is limited to having only one of those effects.

Nevertheless it is still a very strong and versitile card that would unquestionably be too strong for todays modern and still be very good in RUG delver.

What if you made the kicker cost hybrid? Instead of "kicker or " you could have "kicker " and the text could say "if red was used to pay kicker/if green was used to pay kicker"? That could eliminate the interpretation of being able to pay both kicker costs. Not sure if that causes other problems, but...

That's a good idea. It follows Firespout's templating and is less confusing. It doesn't cause any other problems that I can see now.

Could it be an instant this way? With R it's just a worse Electrolyze and I don't see a problem with the G being instant speed.

I immediately thought this cards ability might be; draw a card, if it was kicked fetch a land first. Kinda like Yavimaya Elder. Not sure what the cmc should be for these specific effects on a spell vs these effects on a creature, but I like where I am going with this.

I feel like the R ability is just way better than G. 9/10 times 2 damage is better than the buff, the 10th time being when they try to burn out your creature. Seems narrow.

Actually wait, it's a sorcery. So you can't even do that.

I would say buff the G effect. Maybe get hexproof too? Or at least bump it up to an instant.
