I was inspired by Body Double to create a Zombie-specific shapeshifter which complements the Corpse Centipede:

oohoo, I do like this card. Looking at some good zombies to copy. The dream might be Stitcher's Supplier into turn two this copying Morophon, the Boundless . Super cool in some sort of zombie tribal deck.

Thanks for commenting everyone!
My logic in making Flesh Mimic only one mana is based on the following:
Reanimate costs only one mana, can target any creature card in any graveyard, and causes me to lose life equal to the reanimated creature’s mana value.
Flesh Mimic can only be cast from my graveyard (so it has to get there somehow), targets a Zombie in my graveyard only, then it exiles the target (preventing me from targeting the same Zombie again), and I have to pay life equal to its mana value. So I figured the Flesh Mimic was strong, but not too strong for 1 mana, since essentially it’s a weaker Reanimate spell I have to cast from my graveyard. In an EDH setting, there’d be no reason to run this over Reanimate, unless I specifically was running self-mill and Zombies. With a dedicated self-mill build, this card has more value since my graveyard essentially becomes my hand.
Although Flesh Mimic may be too strong for Modern, the threat of graveyard-hate is ever-present ( Rest in Peace , etc.), which completely neutralizes Flesh Mimic.
Although Maskwood Nexus would be a boost because it turns everything into a Zombie, I don’t see how it would change the analysis above regarding Reanimate, but I could be wrong.
Does this make sense? I could also bump up its mana cost to UB.

I think 1 CMC is perfectly fine. Having to target a zombie and the loss of life is a reasonable drawback.
