Forthcoming - Advice needed
Custom Cards forum

I had a pretty cool idea for a card.
I made it white because of the general spirit theme, and green partially because of the image, partially because it seems somehow fitting. The first ability is the core of the card, enabling you to get a creature in ANY graveyard to attack.
The second ability is a bit of a twist, as it makes sure that no extra cards come into graveyards.
And the third ability is very fun, as you get everything back into the graveyards. That seance did not last long...
I guess the idea with this card would be to have a lot of dumps (looking at you dredge) and a full playset of these. That way, when you exile one, you play another to be able to reanimate those creatures again.
UPSIDES: Kills other reanimation decks, reanimates as well, low CMC.
DOWNSIDES: Hard to fill in CMC, would probably require a build around it.
So what do you guys think? I don't think that this is broken, but could be a very interesting card to play with.
THANKS FOR LOOKING!!

Epoch, thanks for looking!
I'm not super on top of wording, so that can definitely be fixed. Part of it was that the full text did not fit on the card...
I guess I thought of spirits because of Seance, which inspired this card. And this doesn't really have the black feel, at least to me, since it's actually anti-graveyard.
So could it work in a deck, or is it just queer?

I think that this card requires a very niche deck that is built around it, as very few archetypes would fill the roles of graveyard filler.
However, with enough tuning this could be a powerful combo piece.

Kryzis Haha the irony. We comment on each other's posts at the same time...
Anyways, thanks for looking. Green does actually have some pretty sweet fillers thanks to dredge, so I don't really think that would be a problem. It COULD probably be nice and powerful in the right deck, I'll think about that.

FAMOUSWATERMELON, yeah, has Golgari Grave-Troll and Life from the Loam, but paying double in a graveyard central deck will be hard, you might want to change it to so that the mana cost is easier, and it would probably fit in a Junk or Naya graveyard deck. has Faithless Looting and such, has Buried Alive and Entomb. I guess it comes down to which format.

Kryzis which is actually partially why I didn't put it in those colors. Let's look at each one:
Red has no reanimation theme whatsoever, so that's out.
Ditto for blue.
We now have it down to three colors:
White has spirits and some reanimation, but no dumps.
Black has a ton of sacrifice and dumps, and some reanimation.
Green also has a bunch of dumps.
One of the reasons black is not included is because it allows for SPECIFIC dumps. This basically would become another Entomb type deck with repetitive types in the graveyard. Dual green could work I guess, but I feel like then I should make it both dual white and dual green, or it would not have the reanimation feel.

Cards are never supposed to get other cards out of exile that they didn't exile themselves.

That was a fairly confusing sentence, but I understand. And that's part of the plan :)

The idea is that the Forthcoming gives everyone peace when they need it, not just the privileged. However, if that's a real rule, then I'll change it.

Oh, and Epochalyptik, why is the M15 confusing? It's pretty obvious that this is not a real card...

Obviously, if you're designing your own cards, feel free to do whatever you want. I just wanted to make sure you were aware that this type of effect is not allowed in the real game, in case you believe such considerations relevant.

LightAndDarkness is right, it should say "Return all cards exiled with Forthcoming to their owner's graveyard."
FAMOUSWATERMELON, Buried Alive and Entomb are only legal in Legacy, Vintage, and EDH. Of those, the only one where this combo would work is in EDH, as the others have far faster decks. If you look at this from a modern lens, then Naya seems more likely, run a playset of this and Faithless Looting and Burning Inquiry, with a bunch of Iona's, Elesh's, or Griselbrand's.

Well LightAndDarkness I had no idea that that rule existed. I'll definitely change that.
And Kryzis a Naya build could definitely - and would definitely - work. It's just the card design itself that would not include red.

It's poor practice to use the existing set symbols because you could cause confusion. Your card isn't part of that set, and it isn't actually a real card. You would be surprised what people thing is real.

Epochalyptik that's why I love MagicSetEditor, it allowed me to make the custom set symbols I have on my cards.

Ya, I have to use crappy Card builder or whatever...

I highly suggest getting rid of the M15 symbol to avoid causing confusion.
Your card needs some wording updates. The target on the first ability needs to read "target creature card in a graveyard," as "creatures" exist only on the battlefield. Whenever an effect references a permanent type without saying "[type] card," it means only a permanent of that type (and permanents exist only on the battlefield). The last ability should read "creature cards in exile."
Additionally, the replacement effects need updating. See Whip of Erebos for an example of the wording you should be using.
There's not really a spirit theme here because the effects have nothing to do with spirits. I suppose you must have been referring to the reanimation effect and the exile interactions.
Also, it could be argued that the mana cost should be increased slightly. And possibly modified; it's a toss-up as to whether this is more black than green.
