I'm working on a Dune-themed custom set, and I'm hoping somebody familiar with the Dune series would have some advice on color identities for the various factions.
I decided on guild-color pairings. I guess I could have went three-color, but that seemed unnecessarily complicated. Here's what I got so far:
- Bene Gesserit
- Bene Tleilax
- Fish Speakers
- Fremen
- Honored Matres
- House Atreides
- House Corrino
- House Harkonnen
- Ix
- Spacing Guild
- Thinking Machines
Adding the machines from the expansion novels by Frank Herbert's son and his partner might be controversial, but I think it's cool. =P
Beyond that, for some reason I'm not happy with my color assignment. I feel like Leto II should be , and thus by extension his Fish Speakers, because his rule was all about control and oppression--but was for a greater good.
I'm sure what I have right now is just fine, but if anybody has any ideas or input, I'd be interested in another's opinion.
thanks Hjaltrohir. I had the Harkonnens as at first, and I think you may be right....
I looked at the "color-map" below (after I made the above choices), and I still am convinced the Fremen have in them. =P I know it feels a bit weird cuz there are no trees on Arrakis (at first), but there are oceans and forests in its past and future (sequels), so... there ya go, that's my reasoning. =)

I feel that the tricky part with this is that almost every faction (barring maybe the Fremen and the Fish Speakers) can be justified as . This might be easier to do based on overall goals, rather than motivation or method.
I don't know how much it helps, but that's my two cents :P

I don't know very much about the book, but I really enjoyed it. Bene gesserit are meant to be , but I feel that might be more appropriate, as they are sort of scheming the whole time for their own gain. I would also say house Harkonnen is , and the Fremen are but i dont really know why, gut feeling i guess :) keep me posted though, this seems really cool
