Goat Drafting is Imminent (Set nearing completion!)

Custom Cards forum

So i've finally printed my first wave of cards from my custom set whose working title is simply "Zenith". The storyline is almost non-existant as I created the set simply to churn out goat-related cards.

Here are a few of the ones i'm using -

All goats are 1/1 creatures

Name: Sacrificial Goat
Cost:
"When Sacrificial Goat enters the battlefield you may sacrifice it. If you do and four or more goats ar ein your graveyard you may search your library for a Demon and put it into your hand."
Inspiration: Shadowborn Apostle, 80s anti-satanic propaganda.

Name: Grazing Goat
Cost:
"When Grazing Goat comes into play tap target land an opponent controls. It does not untap during that players next untap step."
Inspiration: Hatebears

Name: Mountain Goat
Cost:
"When Mountain Goat enters the battlefield you may have it fight target creature an opponent controls, if you do Mountain Goat gets +1/+1 and haste for the rest of the game."
Inspiration: Goblin Guide

There's a full cycle of split mana cost 1 drop goats. They all have an ETB effect that grants them an ability which they have as long as they remain on the field. Some examples.

Annoying Goat /
As Annoying Goat enters the battlefield it gains your choice of haste or "Tap: Tap target Goat or Human creature."

Belligerent Goat
As Belligerent Goat enters the battlefield it gains your choice of haste or "Tap: This creature fights another target Goat creature."

So in a nutshell:
= Tap to fight
= Tap to Tap
= Haste
= Wither
= Tap: Interrupt target instant spell. This creature does not untap during your next untap step.

The ability might need to be reworked, but the set is largely based on the cheap goats with supporting humans such as the nefariously dirty dealing Goat Trader.

Goat Trader
Legendary Creature - Human
When Goat Trader enters the battlefield exchange half of your Goat creatures for all of your opponents goats.

Yup, that's right, in a set of 120 cards, 40 of which feature Goat centric text it's still possible to play a simple Izzet deck. This in large part thanks to the sets name. There are three cycles of creatures dedicated to worshiping the different Suns.

Here's a preview of the different Human's i've made who worship the different sun's. Each cycle is fairly symmetrical as far as design goes, just the mechanics change based on which Sun they worship.

Red Sun Worshipper
Creature - Human
When this creature enters the battlefield search your library for a card named Red Sun Apostle and put it into your hand.
P/T=1/1

Red Sun Apostle
Creature - Human Cleric
When Red Sun Apostle Enters the battlefield choose one - this creature deals damage to each opponent equal to the number of times youve cast Red Suns Zenith this game; or Search your library for a card named Red Suns Zenith and put it into your hand.
P/T=1/1

Red Sun Battlemage
Human - Wizard
: Red Sun Battlemage gets First Strike until end of turn.
: Deal 2 damage to target creature. Activate this ability only during combat and only twice per turn.
P/T = 2/2

Another one of my favorite themes to come back is Age Counters. For example:

Crumbling Catapult
Artifact - Siege Machine
Crumbling Catapult enters the battlefield with one age counter on it.
, put an age counter on this artifact: Crumbling Catapult deals 1 damage to target creature or player. When crumbling catapult has 4 or more age counters on it sacrifice it at end of turn.

Brand New Catapult
Artifact - Siege Machine
, put an age counter on this artifact: Destroy target creature and put an age counter on this artifact.
If there are 10 or more age counters on Brand New Catapult sacrifice it at end of turn.

There are a few Myr who show up such as the "Myr Mechanic" who is able to remove Age Counters for tapping and a little mana. There is also a set of fun equipment which includes "Expensive Cape", "Fancy Boots" and the risky to use "Fraudulent Paperwork".

Other supporting cards are:

Goat Herder (makes goat tokens on ETB)
Goat Snatcher (Steals a goat every turn!)
Goat Groomer (untaps goats..shenanigans)
Goat Killer (it's all in the name)
Goat Notary (Yes, there is a guy whose whole job is to take notice of who owns which goats. He can reclaim a stolen goat every turn.)

So if any of you have any beloved goat themed cards you would like to see let me know. Right now I am at 132 cards and would like to reach 150. There is room for a couple of Planeswalkers, a couple of game changing legendary creatures who aren't just "op" and as always room for more goats!

There are a few sheep in the set, but storyline-wise, they've been almost eradicated by the Goats.

Here's one of the survivors -

Scapegoat Sheep
Creature - Sheep
"Anytime a goat you control would take damage, you may pay and sacrifice this creature. If you do prevent all damage to target goat you control."
P/T = 0/1

Flavor Text: They cant be trusted. - Father Sheepenhamen, faithful Shepard.
