A pretty fun idea for a win condition creature.

4GBB

8/8

Haste, Flying, Trample

Heart of Avarice enters the battlefield with three satiety counters. Whenever a player would cast a spell, remove a satiety counter from Heart of Avarice and counter that spell.

If Heart of Avarice has zero satiety counters on it, exile Heart of Avarice and all cards in all players' graveyards.

Haste, Flying, and the countering counters are rather off color for .

If this cost like 4UR, it'd be pretty sweet.

Aside from the playability, the ability is pretty off-color for what it does. Greed and whatnot usually comes from WB, and countering spells is almost exclusively U.

Other than that, I think the card is pretty busted. Not being able to cast spells makes your opponent usually just lose, considering you can probably get in at least 16 damage before they have any chance to cast a third spell. Plus, even if they do, that's still a 3-for-1 that dealt at least 8 damage (most likely). Not fun for players, not fair for players. If his P/T was way lowered and a couple keyword abilities were removed, he'd be reasonably fair.

Little op with the three keywords and the Decree of Silence ability. Plus it should be blue as well. Definitely a shut down win condition if it hits the battlefield.

Flying is normal on large black fatties (demons usually).

Haste is secondary in green (Strangleroot Geist , Craterhoof Behemoth )

Trample is a very green keyword.

Countering other spells is the least on-color ability, and has been done only a few times in black (Dash Hopes ).

I think that some cost rebalancing would make this card printable, or just the removal of the Decree of Silence ability. I totally read those as 'safety counters' at first though.

I think there should be a way to prevent the spell from being countered, maybe putting a (or more, this is a pretty rough idea) +1/+1 counter(s) on it?

It's not Decree of Silence . It shuts down casting for all players. The green is meant to put it in aggro decks as a sort Avatar of Slaughter kind of end game thing. Massive effect for every player + a creature to take advantage of it. I think 3UGBB as a casting cost and the removal of haste would do no harm.

The whole dynamic of his idea would be made much more interesting if he was a 9/9 that got -2/-2 for every satiety counter on him. So he would start out small, basically necessitating the consumption of some card for the caster in addition to casting him if they want him usable. It would also act as a disincentive for other players to try to get rid him, although they really want to.

Also, the countering isn't countering in the control sense. It acts more like shroud in function.

That's more like it. Nicely redone!
