Holy poops is that second card broken! First one is perfect except that it becomes Thoughtseize 5-8, which is then unbalanced, so maybe make it instead?

Second card needs to be at least 4-5 mana as it's a controllable Sire Of Insanity. If you activate it only when you have no cards in hand, it's insane value. It would probably be banned in legacy and modern as is. On top of all that, being able to make a person discard their top deck draw before their main phase is way too broken for almost any card in mtg, and I can only find 2-3 cards that can do that, none of which are repeatable except in situations of card combos (like Words of Waste with Mind's Eye).

Just getting the cards to be properly formatted.

A card isn't a permanent until it is in play. So for this one, you have to specify all the types.

Card 1: Target opponent reveals his or her hand. You choose a creature, artifact, enchantment, or planeswalker card from it. That player discards that card. You lose life equal to its converted mana cost.

Card 3: At the beginning of each opponent's end step, if that player has two or fewer cards in hand, he or she loses 2 life.
