Inflation

Enchantment

Each spell costs an additional to cast for each other spell cast before it during that turn.

Due to the heavy reliance on mana, the price per spell has increased as leylines become exhausted and weakened.

So, Damping Sphere for six mana?

I like the idea, but this is way too expensive. Maybe make it ? Nothing on this really screams . If you want it to stay and more expensive, maybe give it an activated ability so its controller can do stuff without casting spells.

My first idea was to add Treasure Trove's ability, but this seems off. But how about some looting instead:

: Draw X cards, then discard X cards.

This way, you can abuse the slow-down the damping effect provides to shape a hand that's worth casting through the damping. And that seems like it would actually be worth five or six mana, as it a pretty cool control card.

I like the idea of it applying to the overall spell count of the turn, rather than just for that player. I like it when cards effect everyone equally, as it makes things more interactive. Counterspell battles get tamped down, combat tricks get more complicated, it sounds like a good card! I agree that there are good arguments for making it cheaper; mine is so that it can be put into play sooner and effect the game more. Also, the fact that it will affect you as the caster means you should get something of a discount. I like it!

Maybe to justify the cost, make each spell cost more to cast.
