Lets Brainstorm a Jeskai Legend!

Problem:

Jeskai currently has one of the worst set of generals out of the tri-color combinations. Their commanders don't fall in line with what you'd expect jeskai to do. Much of this is due to the fact that the color combination hasn't been well-established for most of MtG's history.

Even so, many of the cornerstones of the Jeskai Way aren't reflected in the legendaries.

Shu Yun wants to do nothing but voltron himself. Given the sacrifice he made in lore, that's a pretty drastic mismatch of flavor and mechanics.

I think Narset falls short of attaining cunning and strategy in combat. After all, she's known more for cheating things in than actually dealing damage. Is that a Reconnaissance I see in your list?

My Vorthos disapproves.

That's why I want to create a Jeskai legend. One who would work both in terms of playability and flavor.

Enter a new mechanic: Experience Counters

I mean, c'mon! is there a more perfect mechanic to represent the Jeskai Way and the dedication to discipline and enlightenment that comes with it?

Now, the real question is what to do with it? Experience counters ought to be something you can generate somewhat accessibly by doing something that the color-combination it represents wants to do anyways.

Whenever a creature deal damage? Or how about on the cast of noncreature spells?

And what's the payoff?

I wouldn't do experience counters, but I suggest an alternate option:

Tiba, Master Fighter 2URW

Legendary Creature-Human Monk

Prowess

Other creatures you control have Prowess.

3/2

Simple, breaks Monastery Mentor in half, and enables an aggressive playstyle while spellslinging.

Shuset Naryun, Lazy Jeskai Asshole

Legendary Creature-Human Monk

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may put a 1/1 Human Monk token with prowess under an opponents control. If you do, you gain an experience counter.

Doublestrike

Whenever you cast a non-creature, creatures you control get +X/+X until end of turn, where X is the number of experience counters you have.

"What do you mean I can't sleep during meditation? I helped kill an Ojutai dragon earlier... Well, I gave moral support... Well, I was there at least... Well, I mean I guess I read about it in this weeks Shounen Jump. Just go get me some food."

Honestly, the two legendary creature Jeskai already has are great. Just because the best way to use Shu-Yun isn't flavorful, doesn't mean that you can't do it in a flavorful way. and narset is so in flavor you could lick the cards. Also a tier one commander. I don't see an issue.

Not to mention that there are other Jeskai colored legends. They just aren't termed Jeskai. For example: Zedruu and the Jeskai dragon that destroys land are both great legends.

RT copy target spell if you have cast a spell this turn

WT prevent damage equal to twice the spells you have cast this turn.

When you cast the third spell per turn untap Jeskai training drone.

The jeskai artisans are so skilled thier contraptions take on a life of thier own.

Jola, Djinn of Mastery

Legendary Creature - Djinn Advisor

Defender, first strike

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may tap each creature with the greatest power among creatures you control. If you do, draw a card for each creature tapped this way and put a +1/+1 counter on each other creature you control.

A bit wordy, but so flavorful. He causes the biggest creature(s) to mentor the small creatures and teach you. SO MUCH LEARNING <3

Yun Chi, the Storm's Eye - 3

Legendary Creature - Human Monk

Defender

When Yun Chi, the Storm's Eye enters the battlefield, put 3 Meditation counters on up to three target creatures you control.

Each creature you control with a Meditation counter on it gets +1/+1, Double Strike, and Prowess.

"The storm's teachings are infinite to those whose ears can hear the whispers of the Jeskai Way."- Yun Chi, the Storm's Eye

Pokemaster325 I would word it as

"Each creature with a meditation counter has Double Strike and Prowess.

For each meditation counter on a creature, that creature gets +1/+1."

That way, you can stack meditation counters on creatures and have some use for powerful bounce/clone effects that are common in those colors. (I.E. Twinflame, Deadeye Navigator, Cloudshift)
