Leyline of Dissipation?

Custom Cards forum

Hello everybody. Due to the cube I was recently playing in I was reminded of some of my old favorites that aren't really playable.

One such card is Dissipation Field. Now costed at 3 it "might" be playable against some dual color decks, but given that modern is such a tricolor heavy format, even when it comes to beat down decks that won't really cut it.

So then I thought why not make it a Leyline?

The opponent will still get to hit you with a possible 7/8 Tarmogoyf and then only still have to pay 2 to recast it. In addition the card doesn't stop Siege Rhino so it's not like it neuters the best rock deck. Besides this jund can easily Ancient Grudge the card away, Splinter Twin decks can ignore it completely, and Affinity only has to pay , or mana for all of their creatures.

So given that it's not format warping and people still probably wouldn't play it, what do you all think of a Leyline of Dissipation?

It would be an interesting card that still gives the opponent choice about what they want to do - which is a good thing. I don't think it would be that effective though?

@ ChiefBell: Yeah I still don't think it would be very effective because for 4 mana it's just to slow. Maybe turn 0 against Grixis Delver it would do some work.

I'm actually glad to hear you say that as I was afraid some people might think it's OP.

I dont think its overly OP. There are a lot of decks that wont care, and even those that do won't be completely destroyed - just slowed down.

I don't think that it's too OP. There are better cards in Modern. This would be a fantastic sideaboard card against a lot of decks.
