I had an idea recently, for an artifact that could absorb damage and then change it into a form that could be used by its controller, and here is what I have conceived:
Lightning Rod Show
The idea of this card is that it absorbs energy from an attack, and can then transfer that energy to either power-up a creature or make a direct attack. I also wrote it so that it shall not absorb damage if it is tapped, thus requiring the player to use it wisely.
What does everyone else think of this card? How did I do with it? Also, this card has no relation at all to the card of the same name posted by tyforthevenom; I had conceived this idea some time ago, and it is a pure coincidence that we both posted the cards one the same day.
Feels weird.... As long as the card is out, no one would want to deal non-combat damage to you. Then the second effect is kinda worthless....

Maybe make it absorb damage dealt to you or a creature you control? As it stands it wouldn't be hard to just burn out dudes on the ground and still swing in unhindered. It would just be a minor impingement.

I feel like you'd be better off absorbing two damage and putting on one counter. Absorbing one would make this card feel unusable in any competitive sense. I also feel like, flavor-wise, the counters should go away after some short amount of time, like the end of turn or the end of next turn. Otherwise, this design is really cool, I like it. Definitely the better of the two versions.
