Infinite combo with undying? Seems like sac outlet plus Geralf's Messenger is infinite life loss

Huh, didn't think about that. I was just trying to create the genius that is Carl

I don't see an infinite loop. When you save the messenger it comes back into play under your opponen ts control.

Huh, I don't know, this seems out of my knowledge on how the rule works now that I get a good thinking to it.

Well it kills all creatures that enter the battlefield, under anyone's control.

So what ends up happening is that any creature that gets played immediately dies, comes back, then dies, then comes back, then dies...

It doesn't matter that your opponent gains control of it, it's still gonna make a loop.

Also, the second ability doesn't specify where the creature is entering the graveyard from. As written, milling a card could also start the loop.

Currently, here's what happens:

Cast carl

Carl destroys himself

Carl is returned under an opponent's control with a -1/-1 counter

Carl destroys himself

Carl is returned under an opponent's opponent's control with a -1/-1 counter

Carl destroys himself

Carl is returned under an opponent's opponent's opponent's control with a -1/-1 counter

Carl destroys himself

and so on for infinity

Oh shoot it says "another"

I was extremely confused if you couldn't tell

...don't get rid of "another"

Try

"Whenever another creature enters the battlefield, it gains persist until end of turn. If that creature didn't enter the battlefield with a -1/-1 counter on it, destroy it."

I can't think of a way to template the second ability at the moment, and I don't have enough time to think on it.

"Whenever another creature enters the battlefield, if it has not -1/-1 counters on it, destroy it.

Whenever a creature is destroyed by ~, return to the battlefield under your control with a -1/-1 counter on it."

The opponent's opponent thing gets too tricky. Just take them lol.

Also, I feel like he needs Deathtouch.

I can't believe an experienced player like me neglected that interaction disaster Dx

"Whenever a creature enters the battlefield, if it has no -1/-1 counters on it, destroy it.

Whenever a creature dies, return it to the battlefield under it's owner's opponents control."
