Peacemonger
Human Cleric; Mythic
Whenever Peacemonger would deal combat damage, prevent that damage and you gain twice that much life.
4/4
What do you think? Too powerful? Not powerful enough?
It's an 8 mana card that dies to nearly all removal and counterspells, makes no immediate impact on the battlefield, and can never win you the game.
Needs buffing.

If the only thing changed was the mana cost, what would it be?
I imagine .

Technically the ability is less than lifelink + double strike. Idk if that helps, but it might.

How about keep it at 8 CMC but have the ability be:
Prevent all combat damage dealt by Peacemonger.
Whenever a creature deals combat damage, you gain that much life.

Hey, thanks for commenting everybody! I'm glad that you found a fault in the card, (the CMC). I thought about lowering the CMC, but considering it gains you 8 life whenever it attacks or blocks, I thought I'd play it safe.
How about I lower it to 5 or 6 mana, make it a 4/5, and give it vigilance?

That would be cool, but I feel it would need to be a little stronger. How about "Whenever you gain life, put a +1/+1 counter on Peacemonger" and "Remove 2 +1/+1 counters from Peacemonger: You gain 4 life"

I feel like it just doesn't do enough, especially at 8 mana. For 8 mana you want something like Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Akroma, Angel of Wrath, and the like. Cards that cost 8 mana should put you close to winning, or give you a really good position in order to do so.
As it is, Peacemonger essentially can only gain life. It can't even kill anything it blocks, and it doesn't even have any ability that makes it easy to attack. It can even die to a measly Flame Slash, let alone Doom Blade. I know that's a weak argument, but at 8 mana, this just isn't quite strong enough.
