Jien Lamar, Bloodtaker

@meecht you should specify in Norins abilities whether or not he returns to the battlefield with the loyalty counters and the added ones. Like +1, he leaves and returns. does he only have 3 now or does he get his extra 1 after returning? And If his -10 dont trigger ETB effects, then I wouldnt see a reason for anyody to run him. The original Norins purpose is really to trigger ETB abilities, so I dont see why this doesnt do anything other than leave and return.

Jace, Mind Ruler cannot be countered. When Jace, Mind Ruler enters the battlefield, choose one. Draw three cards, then put two back on top of your library; or return target permanent you control to its owners hand; or shuffle target opponents library.

Davik100, why does Jace cost 4 Black? Also, why is he only a 2/2? I know that he is more magic-basedthan combat, but this still menas that anything which deals damage to all creatures like Pyroclasm or Anger of the Gods would kill him.

Emrakul-the-Format-Broken says... #6
I recommend the following:
Jace, Mind Ruler
2UUUU
Legendary Creature - Human WIzard.
Hexproof
When Jace, Mind Mender enters the battlefield, draw a card, then choose one; Draw three cards, then put two cards from your hand on top of your library; or return target nonland permanent to its owner's hand; or shuffle target opponent's iibrary.
4/5.
-A creature version of a planexwalker as awesome as Jace should cost more than 4. You obviously wanted him to be mono-blue. This way he is still mono-blue, but since it seems like there isn't much mono-blue being played, this way he could still be run in a blue with a splash of another color.
-There's no reason for Jace to have flash, drawing a card is much closer to his abilities.
-If they choose the last option, that just shuffles the opponent's library, which is not something Jace would seem to do. Shuffling libraries without tutoring effects seems like more of a red thing. Which is fine, some blue cards do things that seem like they'd be red. But if there's no card draw for yourself, it doesn't seem very blue at all.
-Returning a nonland permanent controlled by anyone instead of returning any permanent controlled by you seems better, as well as more likely if this were an actual card.
-Shuffle target player's library makes him more playable, as you can shuffle away cards on top of your library that are uneeded at the moment.
-This is the Mind Sculpter. It needs to be higher than a 2/2. Otherwise, it could barely defeat a Storm Crow . I know most things can't, seeing as how Storm Crow is the almighty god of Magic, but you still have to consider it.

Emrakul-the-Format-Broken says... #9
derKochXXL, seriously? Assemble doesn't even do anything as of yet, and this card doesn't make it do anything. So what's the point?
March 26, 2014 10:04 p.m.
Manic elf
G
Creature--elf Druid
Tap: flip as coin. If it's heads, add GR to your mana pool. If it is tails, add 0 to your mana pool.
1/1
March 27, 2014 7:19 a.m.
derKochXXL- I don't think you see the point. One, by the game rules that card would not stay on the battlefield, and two, any damage will kill it. Toughness is the amount of damage a creature has to take to die. If it has 0 toughness, and, like you said, damage still destroys it, then it will immediately die because it is always taking 0 damage (which kills it because it has 0 toughness).
March 28, 2014 7:39 p.m.
And for your more recent post derKochXXL, no one has specified what contraptions are, so your card would not work, it would be (tap) this permanent does nothing. If you designated what a contraption is and what assembling one entails, then you could have a viable card.

derKochXXL, you need to make a card that actually has assemble do something. Like this:
Assembly Arm
5
Artifact Creature- Contraption
3, T: Assemble target Contraption.
Whenever a Contraption would be assembled, it gains hexproof until end of turn.
1/3
Assembling has to be able to do something.

Or maybe:
Karn Assembled
4
Planeswalker - Karn
Starts at 3 loyalty.
+1: Assemble target contraption.
-X: Put X 1/1 colorless Contraption artifact creature tokens onto the battlefield tapped. They have "When this card would be assembled, it gains vigilance."
-6: You gain an emblem with "Contraptions you control get +2/+2. Assembled contraptions you control get an additional +2/+2 and have flying, first strike and trample."

Emrakul-the-Format-Broken and OpenFire (again) the Joke I was going for was that assembling contraptions does nothing. It's a Futuresight joke and a reference to Steamflogger Boss . I know it's an old reference. Sorry.

Well in my playgroup it has been a constant joke back in the day. Like back when morph was around, we hooked about morphed cards being lands (even though Wizards kinda destroyed that hohe by printing Zoetic Cavern ). My dream of they ever did contraptions would be to have lots of contraption assembling cards in set 1 of a block, but only make them do something after set 2...

Eversludge 3UG
Creature-Ooze
Whenever a player cast a spell that targets Eversludge, regenerate it.
"Blood mages aren't so fearsome when they can't rely on their dealthbolts"4/4
Wanted to design a creature that directly combats Red and Black outside of having straight-up Hexproof because that's boring. It can save itself from attackers with your combat tricks, killspells and burn only delay its advance and I wanted it so have a decent body to mana cost to make it a threat. Blue removal can still remove it from the battlefield as can white. Green's fight spells won't really work but it can still beat the ooze in combat.
April 1, 2014 8:56 p.m.
Emrakul-the-Format-Broken says... #23
BlastercoolWeird, that includes you casting spells on it. It should be your opponents casting spells on it. Otherwise, you could even theoretically cast a Murder on it and it would be regenerated.
April 2, 2014 5:57 p.m.
There's a problem with your ooze's ability. The way the stack works, the kill spell would be cast, targeting your ooze. Then the ooze's ability would trigger. The ability, which is on top of the stack, would resolve first but, without having been hot by the kill spell yet, it would fizzle out. Then it would get killed by the kill spell.

matbyrne wasn't regeneration redone somewhen, so it would actually work. I think now it's so it doesn't die the next time it would be killed. So that way it would work I think.

This all made me want a card like this to be printed.
Kegror the Troll-Slayer 1RRR
Legendary Creature - Human Berserker
Double Strike
Creatures damaged by Kegror the Troll-Slayer cannot be regenerated this turn.
3/4
April 6, 2014 2:54 a.m.
You are right about the wording for regenerate. So your ooze would work appropriately. And I would love to see a Polymorph and other such shenanigans cast on it.
April 6, 2014 2:39 p.m.
Lmfao! Regenerate it with Pongify and the ravnica equivalent (I can't remember it's name) and laugh as your opponent's every attempt to kill it only ends in a token spawn.

Anybody think second ability should be more expensive?

Saithor, YES. The first should probably be 2RW, and the second one RRRWWW.
April 8, 2014 7:49 p.m.
Since I don't want the abilities to expensive, how aboutCreature-Human Soldier
3/3
Vigilance, First Strike
R/W:Creatures you control get Battalion: +1/+0.
2RW:Creatures you control get Battalion +1/+1 and First Strike.

Saithor, that seems better. Personally, I'd drop it to a 3/2 for little more balance.

Five Finger Discount is an awesome name. Maybe if it only targeted smaller artifacts, say cmc 2 or lower it would be printable, but still incredibly strong and destroying all affinity decks. Or maybe this could be an instant, so you don't just shut opponents down for ever.

I had considered having it be XGG or XGGG and read, "Destroy X target lands. Their controllers may draw a card for each of their lands destroyed this way." and not have flashback, but figured that would be too strong.
I miss 3-cmc land destruction!

Narthuras, Earthbreaker 1RG
Plainswalker - Narthuras
+1: Search your library for a land card and put it into your hand. Shuffle your library.
-3: Destroy target land.
-8: Gain control of all lands target opponent controls.
Starting Loyalty: 4
Flavor text that would never show up on the card: "You thought the ground beneath your feet was solid?"

I can see that card going into a legacy naya control shell, with a "lands" deck control element (using Glacial Chasm , Maze of Ith , and The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale and the like). I'd buy a playset for my lands deck.
April 10, 2014 5:22 p.m.
Oh! Or team him up with Kiora, the Crashing Wave ! Now that would be a sick deck!

Human and Kor are two separate races. Kor is a race, as far as we know, only found on Zendikar and a few other planes, but not, thus far, on Theros. If something was going to be both Human and Kor it would probably need to be some sort of stitched frankenstein something-or-other.

HI, i saw the thread, and I just gotta show you my creation!:::::

What do ya think?
Sorry it's a bit massive, I couldn't figure out how to shrink it........
I like a lot of long-endgame battles, thus the end game bonuses of dragging my enemy down, or I just win. I'm thinking though, the card should just do one of these: the cursing emblem, or the win con in 17 turns. Both seems overpowered...
May 5, 2014 7:53 p.m.
lord_of_the_snakes says... #45
@nickiru, maybe have it make an emblem that has 10 counters on it, and loses one at the beginning of each of your upkeeps, since keeping track of turns to turn 17 isn't very normal, and if you chose to go this route, maybe bump up the mana cost to, say 5.
May 5, 2014 7:56 p.m.
How about this...
Battle of endurance
1WW (it sounds like a white mechanic, like Azor's Elocutors )
Legendary artifact
~ enters the battlefield with 4 endurance counters on it.
At the end of each opponent's turn, if you did not lose life this turn, remove an endurance counter from ~. When the last is removed, you win the game.
May 5, 2014 8:01 p.m.
yes, yes...... but if I do it that way, if it comes out turn 10 another set of 10 turns have to pass for you to win. I do see ur point, but if it were in your deck, you'll keep track of turns with dice or something.
I would like a card that just has the emblem that increases my enemies mana costs a little over time. That would be sweet. Or make it add cost to both players, so a deck would have to be designed for massive mana ramp to deal the adding cost while your enemy is slowly being crippled. Also the casting cost can remain 0, or one of each color, 5, BWRGU?, since it is affecting everyone....
But yah. I saw Thorn of Amethyst , and wondered if I could make a deck that increased the costs of every thing the enemy does. Thus I spawned this weird card in my head. :D
May 5, 2014 8:06 p.m.
but it ain't much enduring, matbyrne. I do agree with it being white. It does sound white. That's what elicutors does..... It is very similar to Darksteel Reactor , I just remembered that card...
May 5, 2014 8:08 p.m.
Something somewhat silly, but still reasonably simple that just came to mind:
Name: Flying Fish
Cost: (2)(U)
Card Type - Subtype: Creature - Fish
Card Text:
(U): ~ gains flying and +0/+1 until end of turn.
(U): ~ gains islandwalk and +1/+0 until end of turn
Flavor Text: You don't want this fish to jump in your boat!
Power / Toughness: 2/2
A 2/2 for cmc3 is at first underpowered, but the ability to gain +1/+1 and nice evasion for UU on the next turn is decent. It's no AEtherling , but would be fun in limited as a common or uncommon.
derKochXXL says... #1
@OpenFire: I know that toughness 0 always kills creatures. I just thought it would be fun to have creatures that arent really there. Like Lightning Elemental only crayzier. That's why I wanted it to have the keyword so it wouln't die. The Idea is for it to not get killed by it's lack of toughness but still by anykind of damage or direct destruction (not by -1/-1-Effects though).
