December 7, 2013 12:41 p.m.

matbyrne says... #11

@GlimmerKing

I did, in fact, intend for Flamcalling to be combo friendly, which is why I added disruption into the cycle. And, forgetting th djinn that nobody really plays and I doubt anybody would play just to combo with these colored "callings", lets look at cards we could see it work with that will actually see play...

Untapping manage elves for eldrazi, infinite tap-damage combos, and other assorted infinite mana combos. None of which I see as being any more helped by a playset of flamecalling than their already-present untapping mechanisms (since they are often more repeatable). I'd actually be more worried about the blue and green callings as they draw cards for free, which would make any storm deck blush.

Pisces Derpa, Derpfish Sentient.

4UUUU

Planeswalker - Derpa

Starts at 20...

0: Until your next upkeep, Pisces Derpa cannot have loyalty counters removed from it. It is indestructible and cannot be exiled from the battlefield.

-X: Sacrifice half of X permanents, rounded up: Target player sacrifices X permanents. X cannot be greater then 6.

-21: You gain an emblem with "You cannot discard cards or sacrifice non-planeswalker permanents. Creatures you control lose defender and get +4/+2. Opponents cannot cast instants or sorceries. Instants and sorceries you cast cost 1 less. Mana spent on spells you own may be used as if it were mana of any color. Whenever a permanent enters the battlefield, you may put a Derp counter on it. If you do, it loses all colors and becomes colorless."

December 7, 2013 8:44 p.m.

@ Emrakul-the-Format-Broken

Hmmm... Doubling Season or Contagion Engine would make the derpfish quite useful...

Cost: B W 3

Type: Legendary-Enchantment

Text:

Unspent mana carries over to each player's next turn.

Pay B or U or W: Counter target spell. Then each player may pay X as an instant action on the stack, where X is any amount of mana. The player who paid the most mana may cast the countered spell for no mana cost. Spells cast this way can't be countered.

Any player may activate this ability.

Flavor: "You can get anything here, even your own family heirloom"

DodgeNDive says... #18

May be more suitable as a plane for plane chase I suppose, but who plays plane chase nowadays

December 9, 2013 4:53 a.m.

@ DodgeNDive

Sorry, couldn't hold myself back... I just had to improve the wording and fill some gaps. Nice concept, I'd play that one.

(b) or (u) or (w): Counter target spell. Starting with you and proceeding clockwise, each player may pay any amount of mana until all players decide not to pay any more mana. The player who paid the most mana this way may copy the countered spell and cast it without paying its mana cost. The copy can't be countered. If the spells cost contained (x), X is the total amount of mana that player payed for this ability. Any player may activate this ability.

December 9, 2013 6:26 a.m.

DodgeNDive says... #20

@Triforce-Finder

Thanks man, if I ever design cards, I'd have you as editor :) aha

I would probably let spells with (x) in its cost be copied for the original amount it was cast for, since "unspent mana carries over to each player's next turn". To make it harder to burn someone for 20 with no risk of having it "stolen and bought".

I play a modern equipment deck and I'm always wishing I had Stoneforge Mystic . So, I came up with this hopefully non OP "stoneforge mystic".

Name: Steel Shaper

Cost: 1W

Card Type - Subtype: Creature - Human Knight

Card Text: Steel Shaper enters the battlefield with two charge counters on it.

When Steel Shaper enters the battlefield, you may search your library for an equipment card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle your library.

W, Tap, remove a charge counter from Steel Shaper; you may put an equipment card with converted mana cost 3 or less from your haand onto the battlefield.

Dallie says... #30

@bantam1234: How is that a common? A 3/3 you get to play for free in turn 0 (if on the draw) if your opponent has a 1-drop, seems like it's much too powerful to be a dominant part of the set.

December 15, 2013 9:44 a.m.

matbyrne says... #31

It's because, as soon as you cast it for free on turn 0, it enters under an opponent's control so, unless you are playing a Zedruu deck, I don't see the benefit.

December 15, 2013 11:36 a.m.

Dallie says... #32

@matbyrne: The "card" says: "Whenever Soulfuser enters the battlefield, target player gains control of it". Target player can be you.

@JimothyCrikkett It looks like the templating you're looking for would be:

Bloodwalker Demon
3BB
Creature - Demon Warrior

Deathtouch

At the beginning of your upkeep, choose one - Sacrifice Bloodwalker Demon, or sacrifice another creature and gain life equal to the sacrificed creature's toughness.

6/6

The way it is written now, if/when you decide to sacrifice the Demon itself, you'll gain 6 life, which it seems you didn't want.
