Legendary Creature - Fox Samurai

Bushido 2 (When this creature blocks or becomes blocked, it gets +2/+2 until end of turn.)

Each other samurai you control get +1/+1 and can block an additional creature.

1/1

Bushido is a bad mechanic. It is boring too.

A 1/1 with Bushido 2 should be a common, and having the second ability could boost it to uncommon. That way it's potentially really good in a Samurai deck but still at an appropriate rarity everywhere else.

Reminds me of Brothers Yamazaki solo how it's got cool abilities but the low P/T keeps it from being rare, which is fine. In a Kamigawa draft full of Samurai I would pick this guy if he was in my colors and I didn't have one yet, provided there wasn't some super awesome Samurai in the same pack.

I kind of modeled it after Mayor of Avabruck  Flip, though I suppose it could be a 2/2.

Sorry I was careless with my words. I don't think you should change the P/T to justify making it a rare, as I think this card is much more suited for an uncommon slot.

Right now when I ask myself "would I play this in draft" the answer is "yes". When I ask myself "would I play this in a standard 60 card deck during the Return to Kamigawa blocks tenure?" the answer is "no, not even close".

The reason is simply because to be highly played the 3 drop slot needs to be a very powerful card. Something that can dodge nearly all 1 and 2 drop instant speed removal or act immediately (Savage Knuckleblade dodging lots of burn, Mantis Rider acting immediately) or provide repeated value (Liliana of the Veil, Domri Rade during his standard time).

Rather than focusing on trying to make this card something that I would want to choose for my standard deck or into something "befitting" of the "rare" slot in the set I think it really is a great draft option as an uncommon even as a 1/1 and here's why:

You don't want to many in your deck or the draft pool
- It's Legendary
- It's banner effect is only highly applicable with a large field of samurai

Reasons why I would still pick one up during draft
- It's a 3/3 for 3 most of the time, which isn't horrible
- I might have other samurai that help samurai, sort of a sliver effect.
