banding

In all seriousness though, it's rare for a flier to have a higher power and toughness (that are equal) than its converted mana cost. It's probably more balanced if it was bumped it down to a 5/5, maybe a 6/6.

What's so wrong about banding isn't it just giving everything exalted except with only one creature type? Or is it way worse than that?

It's just an overly complicated mechanic. Essentially it lets stuff attack as one entity. So if Sigarda, Archangel attacked with 2 1/1 Human tokens, basically they'd be a 7/8 flier with hexproof. They'd all be blocked as one entity as well.

Alright I Am stupid that is no where near what it does. But still being able to decide how to have your opponent deal damage doesn't seem bad at all...

I always thought banding was something really terrible but is it actually just talked about like that because it's confusing? Or is there some bad side that I just can't see?

The design behind it is very flavorful and interesting, but it's kind of absurdly complicated. I have a decent grasp of how the game works, but banding baffles me quite a bit. So imagine how confusing it may be for newcomers, especially once you reach the especially intricate parts of banding.

Banding is great. You can block as a band and you get to choose how damage is split among those creatures. So block a Blightsteel Colossus with a band and put all of the damage on one of you're creatures, so there is no trample damage.

Banding - (Any creatures with banding, and up to one without, can attack in a band. Bands are blocked as a group. If any creatures with banding you control are blocking or being blocked by a creature, you divide that creature's combat damage, not its controller, among any of the creatures it's being blocked by or is blocking)

Good thing Banding is on the Storm Scale at a 10, I dislike it as a mechanic but it's a "neat"ish concept

banding is a concept that you understand the base of but when you go deeper into the interactions it becomes a clusterfuck of rulings that isn't worth the small amount of work it does.
