Srathalia, take 2

Custom Cards forum

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far far away, I came up with this.

She was one of my favorite cards, so I decided to make her into a planeswalker, trying to follow the same spirit.

The idea here was to make a card that kept the graveyard spirit of the last one. It's made for BUG control or some quirky dredge, and it's pretty heavily costed. The +1 ability is the draw-three-discard-three on the first card. I'm a bit iffy about this one, because it is some pretty nice card advantage... Maybe make the opponent draw too?

The 0 ability is another I'm a bit iffy about. Flashing in stuff is obviously beast, so I had to give a downside to it. I first thought of loosing X amount of life, but that didn't work so well, so I just went with card advantage to the opponent.

The -3 ability is Snappy, pure and simple.

It feels pretty powerful, but the fact that it's three colors, that it starts at fairly low loyalty, and that it doesn't have an ult balances it out a bit. Or at least I think. So what do you guys think about it (not the first card, the second one)?

And as always, thanks for looking!!

Holy ***, hexproof 3CMC, out of damage based board wipe range, insane card advantage by turn 3-4.

Ixidron Um, the second one. Not the first one. The first one has already been discussed months ago. The full discussion can be found here, but please don't necro the thread.

Planeswalkers are pretty much terrible with a couple of exceptions, this one dies to Lightning Bolt, but so does Liliana.

Maybe reducing the cost to UBG and removing the drawback from the second ability it might be interesting, but the problem is I can't quite figure out a good archetype for it, I mean, you can have a very good card, but it's pointless if there isn't an archetype for that card.

I say on the 1st ability, have you draw two cards and discard three. Second ability is balenced, but the final ability seems like it could be more powerful. Perhaps -2 on the final so Srathalia becomes more unique, in that she doesn't kill herself?

Not quite Ixidron. You have priority on your own turn, so you can trigger any of her abilities (pay the cost, that is) in response to a bolt, and profit.

Ixidron She doesn't die to bolt if you +1 her.

Popalofiti I thought about that. I was just worried that a repeatable flashback would be too good, but -2 seems perfectly reasonable.

No, as long as she gets no benefit from the infinite flashback, it's good, like Jace, Memory Adept.

here's what I would do:

0: Draw 3 cards, then discard 3 cards.

-X: Until your next turn, the next X spells you cast have flash. for each spell you cast this way, target opponent draws a card, then discards a card.

-2: Put a blue 2/1 human wizard token with haste onto the battefield with "tap, Sacrifice this creature: target instant or sorcery in your graveyard gains flashback until end of turn. the flashback is equal to the spell's converted mana cost." and "when this token dies, put a loyalty counter on Srathalia".

Starting loyalty: 8. (this may be a bit too high. 6-7?)

It's a little wordy, but the abilities you have on here are all super powerful, and without a proper setback, this card literally will dominate games. making her loyalty defunked from the beginning (similar to Sarkhan the Mad) gives her the advantage of using all her abilities the turn she comes down, while also keeping her in check.

lemme know what you think.

So I got one guy telling me it needs some more power and one guy telling me it needs less power :)

The best way to know who's right is printing both versions and testing them.

Hahahaha well I could try that :)
