Because I like birds, I'm making a "half-set" with only naya colors concentrating on birds. Here would be the "King Bird", or whatever you want to call it. I have a bunch of others, but I'm still designing. What do you guys think?
Thanks for Looking!!

it seems like it should have flying, right? Flavor and common sense wise

He does get flying. I'm really digging the flavor of this card in that he does, indeed, need to have a follower present to exert any influence on the board. However, as it is written, I believe "King Bird" would die to state-based actions before his token follower is generated. SB actions check whenever a player receives priority and whenever a spell or ability enters the stack (probably some other times it checks, too, but these seem most relevant). As is written, ETB triggers and hits the stack. SBA's check and would see "King Bird" having a toughness of 0 and put him in the graveyard. The token would still be generated, but "King Bird" would not be around to reap from its bonuses. I'm not the best at re-writing rules text to make it do exactly what you want, but Living Lore does give some good templating. I suggest changing King Bird's first ability to "As CARDNAME enters the battlefield...". This modification should allow King Bird to work as intended. Great idea, great flavor! +1

This creature would die when the token trigger went on the stack, and it seems like it needs flying, as it's a bird. The ability would be read as "As long as you control a creature named Sratzix", and the token you made would be very strange as it's not a creature (but it has flying), has no colors or color identity.
I wouldn't use MTGCardsmith, by the way, as it's absolute garbage. I recommend Magic Set Editor. Things look smoother, and it doesn't space the flavor text like that.

I feel like the best option would be when you cast it, but the problem comes in with how this interacts with countering. I'm not too sure on the flavor of this, but would it hurt flavor to make it a 2/1 that gets +3/+2? I just can't think of any card that works similarly with the "as..." wording for putting tokens.

Yes, the token should have flying, though I might make him a bit weaker to make it fair.
I think I'll make it "When you cast Qualizatmus" for the token, so that he doesn't die, and as a huge middle finger to countering :)
I'll also give him flying as that seems appropriate for a bird.
Oh, and Carsf, of course Cardsmith is a b****, but my computer has problems with downloading programs, so I can't use MTG set editor :(

Wow... that seems a bit too strong. Maybe lower the overall P/T?

Dr_Jay What, for the token? Yeah, I'll do that and give it flying.

Where did you get the art for this? Also the "gets +1/+1 for each bird you control" clause should be in the if you control the token clause so that it will die without it.

I feel like we were either missing the +1/+1 for other Birds or it's not intended to be there.
Just to clarify: FAMOUSWATERMELON Is Qualizatmus supposed to die if Sratxis isn't on the field? If so, then it may need to work differently. If not, then it should be fine, especially because you could feasibly control another Bird.
On that note, too: You could keep the original design if Qualizatmus isn't intended to die along with Sratxis. In a pinch you could cast Qualizatmus without any other Birds and when it enters the battlefield it dies, but you still get the Sratxis token. But I feel that the casting idea, although not truly necessary, is a good fit for this card.

Token needs a color identity. Casting cost of 7 makes me lean towards a beefier token, a 4/4, just to make it out of bolt or bile blight range.

accelerando11 and sirbar - Well part of the point is that Qualizatmus needs the people (plural) to survive. I was sort of thinking of Sratxis as his commander of some sort, so that it would make him stronger than everybody else, but it would not kill him. However, if he happened to have no people, THEN he would die. Maybe a bit overcomplicated though...
CharlesMandore Definitely needs a color identity. Leaning towards green. 4/4 token definitely seems like a better idea, I'll change that.
Any other changes guys?

I like the newer version better, but I really feel this guy should be bant. LOTS of birds are in blue, including some other legendary ones, and making it bant would finally give people a really good and fun bird commander!

The only reason it's Naya is because that's my favorite three color option :) Logically, Bant might work better though.

second version is better, still pretty insane card. cool idea though.

Hang on. So your telling me that when I cast my Bird King, I get a total of ten power on two creatures, both with evasion? In addition, if I somehow confuse my opponent with this card I can force them attempt to pronounce the name while explaining the situation to the judge? Geez, this is strong. I like it, and Wizards has done nothing like it.

Leafbladefighter Yup :) but don't forget that you can easily kill the token and you'll get two birds with one stone (literally). The three toughness makes it within bolt range, so to make this worthwhile, you better have a lot of flyers on the board.

Remember that that is still one-for oneing them, even if you spent six more mana.
