The Gateless Movement

Everything seemed to have rapped up nicely on Ravnica. The guilds no longer fought, the guildpact was restored, and they had a strong new leader. But they had forgotten about a group of people who's voice was smothered by the fighting: the Gateless.
The Gatless movement in Ravnica are like the factionless group in Divergent. However, everyone hates them, and there is no Abnigation to help them. Even the Boros are their hated enemies.
I feel that the Gateless movement was largely unexplored by Wizards, and that we should fill that gap. Can we start brainstorming? I would like their colors to be W/B/R, if possible.

I don't believe so. I agree that it's an interesting faction and outside of the Gatecrash set, it wasn't ever really explored much. Guildscorn Ward and Guardian of the Gateless are a couple of the associated cards that I can recall. There were more, though. Interestingly, there was no faction-based watermark either. Just a vague association with the "Gateless" movement, usually via flavor text and/or card name.
The new Conspiracy printing of Unquestioned Authority expands a bit on the aftermath. Since the 9th District seems to be the home of the Gateless (as per cues on other cards), that card reports that the district had since been quelled due in part to Gideon Jura's efforts.

My plan was to have a bigger movement under the surface. Make the Gateless seem small and pitiful, then crush the hq of the Boros or Azourus, and start a war.

Also I had Venser get thrown through the planes after losing his spark, landing on Ravnica, and becoming a prominent leader of the Gateless.

I don't see them crushing one of the Guilds. Not without them allying themselves with one of the other Guilds, which won't happen as the other Guild would probably require them to pledge allegiance to that Guild before helping them, in which case they would just quash the rebellion and have a bunch of new people/merfolk/gorgons/whatever joining their ranks.

It's interesting, but I doubt we'll see anything major about the Guildless. On a related note, a friend of mine is DMing a campaign in D&D which revolves around the Guildless, which is pretty cool.

That's a cool idea.
If a guild HQ has to get destroyed, don't make it the Azorius'. They've already had that shit happen once. New Prahv, eh?
But yeah, I could see a successful attack against a guild by the Gateless, probably with assistance from another guild, though. Dimir machinations come to mind here. Using the Gateless as pawns in a scheme to destabilize the new Guildpact.

Canterlotgaurdian: Notice how this isn't on the rumor mill. I just wanted to make some Gateless cards and give them a story, even if it isn't close to cannon.
TheDevicer: I wish I came up with that D&D campaign. Again, not cannon, blah blah blah.
Spootyone: I doubt that will ever happen.
JakeHarlow: Thanks for the input! I know the Gateless hate the Boros, and I could see the Gateless working with the Dimir for a bit-possibly being betrayed, then using/allying with the Rakdos.

What do you guys think?
Venser, the Gateless 1RR
Legendary Creature-Human Rebel
First Strike
1W: Exile target creature you control, then return it to the battlefield.
1BB, T: Destroy target creature that attacked this turn or last turn.
2/2
He's red because the Gateless are chaotic and against order. His first ability is white because he will protect his people. His second ability is black because he is ruthless when dealing with enemies. He has so many abilities because he remembers being a planeswalkers.

I would make the blink ability a tap ability. Multiple cheap blinking with a card like Terastodon is insane. As for the second one... I feel like it's maybe a bit too good, but I like the flavor. Maybe "multicolored creature" to go with the I-hate-guilds theme and to make it a bit fairer? If you choose that path though, you could probably get away with lowering the cost of the ability by one.

I'm not sure the colors make too much sense. The Gateless are overwhelmingly . Why not leave Venser at that and give him some activated abilities in ? seems so out of place, as does .
Perhaps some characters could show up in the ranks of the Gateless. But I think Venser should stick closer to his original color identity.

1W, T: Exile target creature you control, then return it to the battlefield.
1B, T: Destroy target multicolored creature that attacked this turn or last turn.

If we shift him to white, we can change the blink ability to blue. I had it in my head that Awe of the Guilds was a specifically Gateless card.

I do think he should have him be black, because he is desperate.

Rise of the Gateless WB
Sorcery
Choose one or both:
-Destroy target multicolored permenent.
-Put three 1/1 white soldier creature tokens onto the battlefield.

FAMOUSWATERMELON says... #21
Well, I would make it just one. In general, charm-type cards offer decent possibilities for a rather disproportionate mana cost (look at Dimir Charm: would you pay alone for any of those abilities? Probably not. But it's the choice that makes it worth it.)

Fine then.
Gateless Charm (Pls suggest cost)
Instant
Choose one:
-Put two 1/1 white soldier creature tokens onto the battlefield.
-Destroy target multicolored permanent.
-Target creature you control gains protection from up to two colors until the end of the turn.

Were there any "Gateless" cards in anything other than mono-white?
