Adventure Split Card

Time of The Tarrasque

3{G}{G} Sorcery

This spell can't be countered. The Tarrasque deals 20 damage to each creature.

Huddled Survivors

1{G} Creature 1/1 Human

When Huddled Survivors enters the battlefield create a 1/1 plant token, and a 1/1 squirrel token.

So, it's a little embarrassing but, when they were doing call-ins for AFR, somebody was using Alexa, and you know what happens. Rather than The Tarrasque we accidently got Terry Skew to be on the card. Since then, we've gone back and contacted the real T-clipse themself.

I mean, really, the Tarrasque isn't so much a creature in DnD, it's an event. It's a way to reset the world and create a new one from the bottom up.

And...most importantly...The Tarrasque cannot, should not, will not...be effectively blocked by any Fblthp.

Doesn't the Tarrasque have an entry in the Monster Manual? That would mean it is a creature, right?

It's definitely true that The Tarrasque is a creature, but it's a creature designed to be so unbeatable that most groups can't even think about fighting it. Mostly, The Tarrasque in DnD is a tool for the DM to use. If the world has gotten out of hand for one reason or another the big critter is a way to wipe the slate clean and either allow players to make new characters or figure out a way to keep their characters alive.

I guess a maxed level group that has all the bells and whistles could fight it, but the real point of The Tarrasque is to have something in the toolbox that the players can't handle. It's the unstoppable monster that chases characters from world to world. It's the one time when your luckiest roll and biggest spells can't help you. It's The Tarrasque, and it's a creature so overpowered that the only thing you can interact with is what's left in it's wake.

It sounds very much like Emrakul, the Aeons Torn if you put it like that '^^

plakjekaas It could very well be. Just instead of a big grabby squid, it's a big chompy lizard :)

I honestly don't hate the design of the AFR Tarrasque (though it should have trample) but I just don't think that it captures what The Tarrasque is in a DnD world. And it's odd because they absolutely nailed some things. Fifty Feet of Rope is as classic DnD as it comes and they designed the card to be exactly what it is in a DnD campaigh: a mostly innocuous item that you will always find some use for. So, I'm not mad at the the AFR Tarrasque being a big creature, I just know they could have done better.

Maybe the sorcery side would be better as something like:

Time of The Tarrasque

3{G}{G} Sorcery

Create a 20/20 Legendary Tarrasque token that has hexproof and indestructible, and has, "On each upkeep exile all Tarrasque tokens". Each creature fights The Tarrasque.

My only problem with creating a token is trying to not have it be abused in later turns. I think having it exile on all upkeeps can keep you from being able to blink it, copy it, end the turn early, or do some kind of shenanigans to keep it on the board.
