The RPG Game Discussion Thread
Custom Cards forum

The RPG Game Discussion Thread is for any discussion related to The RPG Custom Card Game.
Any question you have outside the game, like the rules, can be posted here. You can also ask any questions.
I will be sure to nominate any participant as an editor for the deck, so that the winner can archive the story and post the new challenge (I need a friend request for that).
Tagging TypicalTimmy, PepsiAddicted, Ziusdra, ScionsStillLive, CrowMutini, Caerwyn, MoonHollow124 who commented on the previous thread to weigh in on the version 2.0 of the game.
I knew there would be some kinks to work out, and I think this is the best way to do it.

There are some formatting issues with the thread, but I expect it's only in placeholder status right now, and the thread will be cleaned up before it goes "live". I think it would be a good idea to move the "All other discussion should be done here" post to the way top of the thread--people often don't read all the way to the bottom of long walls of text, and that's a pretty important piece of information.
I'm also not sure I agree with the encounter ending after 7 entries. I might bump that up to 12 or so entries, at least at first--if everyone you tagged comments, that's seven entries right there, and the worst thing to do with a new game is make potential players feel like they're unable to participate because the insular group is taking all the attention. This number could be periodically reevaluated based on how popular the thread is at the time of reevaluation.
I'd also suggest that a week before starting might be a bit long. The discussion thread will only stay on the homepage for a couple days, and it is pretty hard to garner interest after that point. There's probably a lot of people who would be interested in this kind of game, but might forget about it once the discussion thread leaves the homepage. It's probably a good idea to strike while the iron is hot, then we can feature this on the homepage and sticky it on custom cards, once it has some demonstrated popularity.

Great, some awesome suggestions! I will update the deck description as soon as possible and provide more re-read and clarify and structure everything better. I have relied on tagging users who commented previously to maintain interest from the previous thread as best as possible while hopefully improving user experience.
I will definetely add a section where everyone should send me a friend request, since you cannot edit the deck otherwise, which is bad. I want users to drive this crazy train as much as possible :)

Interesting. Are the challenges supposed to be based in MtG mythology, or is this more D&D based? Or perhaps freeform (like RhyDin, lol, remember Rhy'Din? on AOL?) This is the first I've heard of this idea so I checked out the link up top, but still I'm curious as to rules, limitations and setting and all that.
Anyway, it kinda sounds like each challenge/week would be like creating an original storyline for a fictional Magic set.

Will you be friending all of us so we can edit the deck, or will it just be a comments only thing?

Since Boza has not had a chance to answer, I'll try to answer the recent questions as best I can based on my understanding and reading of the previous thread.
Gattison - There was not anything decided yet on that front, but I got the impression the general idea was to set this on a singular, new high fantasy plane (akin to Dominaria, but without the lore baggage). I personally am of the camp that there should be no planeswalking - otherwise, you're forcing PC characters to play as planeswalkers, lest they can't join the party on all their adventures.
ScionsStillLive - I think that's the plan. At the very least, the DM for the week will have to have edit permissions so they can post the challenge and update the main post with new information.

Let me confirm that real quick - Gattison, all of the will be up to the GM of the week - the group can stumble onto a interplanar portal Bolas failed to find and be transpored to the Jetsons world.
ScionsStillLive - I will update the deck page as well with that (and additional rules), but basically, everyone who comments would have to friend me to be able to edit the deck. The weekly GM will archive the discussion to clean it up and the only post to show up would be his/hers with the newest story entry. Since anyone who participates can be the GM, it is best to just ask everybody to friend me.
Naturally, this means this will be entirely community driven and open to griefing, but I think the participating users will be above that.
I will be working to finalize both the deck and this page during this week and I will update you once done.

I will post the first challenge (might not even be the same one as the first iteration) in about a week to allow for time to iron out any issues here.
