We were tossing around ideas between friends and came up with this:
Card Name -
Legendary Creature - Human Wizard
At the beginning of your upkeep, you may return target instant or sorcery with converted mana cost 1 from your graveyard to your hand.
1/3
Would make for an interesting general. Could potentially rival Arcanis/Azami in advantage over time. Recurring stuff like Brainstorm, Mystical Tutor, or Pongify is nice.

it could certainly make for an interesting general, but I fear there aren't enough cards that are decent enough to work with him.
the gatherer website is currently down, so I couldn't get an exact number, but the amount of usable ones will be SMALL.
2 or less, however, would open up a lot more, especially b/c it would open up lots more X cost spells in comparison to just grabbing 1s.

@CastleSiege the way it reads Pact of Negation is out of the picture. rewording and maybe the increased cost would allow for it though.

This reminds me of Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker, but in Blue. I'm not sure what cards are best with this legend, but we've already named a few. Only problem I see is actually not in Commander, but in Vintage. Sure, 4 mana is a lot in Vintage, but this is a free Archaeomancer for Ancestral Recall each turn. It's very dangerous there.

Putting vintage aside, would the card be better with the ability worded as:
- "mana cost 1"
- "mana cost 1 or less"
- "mana cost 2 or less" and a casting cost of

I like the 1 CMC or less restriction better. The number of 0 CMC instants/sorceries are so minimal it doesn't matter. You're looking at Pact of Negation, Ancestral Vision, and Evermind.

Still highly playable cards. Esp Evermind. Evermind is bae.

I want this to cost 1RUU.
All the one mana red burn spells and the new jori en.

Depends on how many cards at CMC2 you can find which would make him too powerful. As it is it's only 1 spell per turn, So say you kept taking Counterspell would that be too strong? How about Curse of the Swine? Cyclonic Rift? Obviously there are many less powerful choices in mono to recur every turn, but being only one per turn and only CMC 2 or less I think it isn't terribly broken. Certainly should be x or less, but I think 2 is probably the number to go for. 5 is probably a reasonable casting cost for this though I think is probably better.

... And those are only some of the blue cards you can recure. Seems really good. Since you're in blue combine it with Paradox Haze.
