Pure Spirit

Creature - Spirit

Protection from blue, protection from red, vigilance, reach

1/1

It wouldn't break legacy, but this is basically a giant "screw you" to delver decks. I think there are better ways to try and stop delver.

Also this would be way overpowered in Limited and Standard.

I'm very skeptical.

Hmm, it might, MIGHT be somewhat balanced if it was a 0/1, so it couldn't just infinitely eat Delver's creatures. I'm not entirely sure though.

Also, from a flavor perspective, why reach and not flying? Spirits have flying.

Perhaps if it specified the protection as protection from blue and red creatures. Then it still dies to Lightning Bolt and the like.

I would say go vig OR reach. Both seems too good. Block delvers and swing in every turn? Too much.

I would argue that the protection from red is the most powerful characteristic of the idea. A 1/1 that trumps delver for days? Sure, whatever. But a 1/1 that trumps delver that dodges burn spells and also trumps Monastary Swiftspear, Goblin Guide etc. This card would basically be the bane of both U/R Delver, Mono R Burn, and to a lesser extent, even Merfolk, and for only 1 mana. There's a reason this card isn't in print and things like Scryb Ranger and Skylasher are.

The inspiration for this idea is "What would it take for Delver decks to be sub-par in legacy?"

If you're looking for something that goes specifically against U/R delver, I recommend an enchantment, as U/R can't deal with them.

To hit delver usually means that you indirectly hit other decks/archtypes. Gotta be careful attacking Delver. Perhaps it would behoove you to identify the real reasons why U/R delver wins and attack it that way. Maybe Delver isn't really the problem. Maybe it's the potent combination of ponder, brainstorm, treasure cruise, lightning bolt, etc.
