It is my first attempt at making a custom card. Is he too strong? Tell me what you think Torah, Who Stands Alone.

Double strike with intimidate and hexproof seems a little op. Also other than intimidate very unblack.

I'd cut intimidate and change double strike to first strike maybe make the cost have green in it.

I think this could be fine the way it is if you played up the "Stands Alone" factor more, like how Avacyn Restored had a loner theme in it. I think he could have intimidate normally, and gain double strike if you control only one creature (him). The hex proof is ultimately the biggest problem on this card though, having so many powerful keywords makes the card insane.

I like where scopesightzx was going, so maybe something like:

Hexproof

"Whenever - attacks alone, it loses First Strike and gains Intimidate and Double Strike"

or

Intimidate, First Strike

"Whenever - is attacking, it loses first strike and gains Hexproof and Double strike"

Maybe even 'Whenever - attacks, if - is the only creature you control' as a condition.

Torah, Who stands alone. Here's him updated! Thanks for the advice guys!

Umm, still pretty damn strong. I would make him:

A) lose the double strike and intimidate when attacking alone and

B) Make him gain deathtouch when attacking alone. He'll be basically garanteed to destroy anything blocking him, so people will leave him alone.

He's already pretty damn good if you play him in control or something (hexproof, burn-proof, exalted) so double strike is unecessary.

Was his name meant to be based on the Old Testament or was Torah really just a coincidence?

This is a dude I would love to read about in the Uncharted Realms, or make up stories for in my Commander deck.

From a flavor standpoint however, I think there are different things you can do to play to the name/color/flavor text a little bit better. Doublestrike seems to be the big offender here. It just doesn't feel black. Hexproof doesn't really scream black to me either. I think you could play around with indestructible, or some form of regeneration to get a better black feeling.

Some ideas:

"Whenever ~ attacks alone, each other creature you control gains exalted until end of turn.

Sacrifice another creature: Regenerate ~"

These two abilities combined will achieve a similar play style to what you had before, while feeling more black, and playing to the flavor better.

-or-

"First strike, Deathtouch

Whenever ~ attacks, you may sacrifice any number of creatures. ~ gets +X/+0 until end of turn, where X is the total power of creatures sacrificed this way."

Another black feeling card that fits well with the name/flavor you seem to be going for.

More or less could be added to each of these ideas such as "Indestructible" to the second one, or "first strike" to the first. All in all the card feels awesome just a little out of place for mono B.
