Ok, for some reason, the lands in this deck deck:new-token-pop are driving me crazy. To splash blue into this green/white deck I would think I would need at LEAST 7-8 blue mana sources in the deck. I do not want to run all shock lands because thats a lot of pain (but they do count as both lands which works well for Arbor Elf ).

First turn you want to play a forest for mana dorks, second turn white is preferable, 3rd turn you wana a blue for the Geist of Saint Traft . After that you just need 3 forests in the late game for Garruk, Primal Hunter .

Please leave your comments on the deck page as well (deck:new-token-pop), hope some mana master out there leaves me some good suggestions to start playtesting with.

Despite how most people approach it, Land in MTG is mostly probability, and thus can be calculated.

(Number of Lands in Deck) / (Number of Cards in Deck) = (Number of Lands in Han) / (Number of Cards in Hand)So, for 1 forest on turn one (assuming you go first):f = 60(1/7) = 9 ForestsFor 1 white mana by turn two:w = 60(1/8) = 8 PlainsFor 1 island on turn three:u = 60(1/9) = 7 IslandsFor the extra 3 forests, we'll just count that as 4 forests by turn 6, so:f = 60(4/13) = 18 Forests

So 8 plains, 7 islands, and 18 forests. Now that's a lot total, but you can cut down on it by either adding some dual lands which can count as both, or lower your expectations of getting all 3 colors in the first 3 turns.
