can you tell me the strategy of how the colors work?

UWR: Blue says no, White has removal, Red has burn that can go to the face or a creature for removal

Esper: Blue says no, White has removal, Black has removal and hand disruption

BUG: Blue says no, Green has solid beaters for a win con, Black has removal and hand disruption

Specifics really depends on the format because you have totally different card pools and strictly better cards you could run in Modern/Standard/Legacy/EDH

I play UWR with 4 total win cons in the deck... 2x Assemble the Legion and 2x AEtherling . Last game I played I won by Boros Charm ing my aetherling and going unblockable to the dome for 16.

Blue is used for counterspells, such as Dissolve , Cancel , Syncopate , Negate , and Essence Scatter . It has finishers against another control match in Jace, Memory Adept and it has a versatile answer to any other deck in Jace, Architect of Thought . It is also used for the common control finisher of AEtherling .

Blue is used in conjunction with white for Sphinx's Revelation , Azorius Charm , Supreme Verdict , and Detention Sphere .

Blue is used in conjunction with black for Far / Away .

Blue is used in conjunction with red for Steam Augury , Ral Zarek , and Turn / Burn .

White is used for Elspeth, Sun's Champion , and Glare of Heresy .

White is used in conjunction with black for Blood Baron of Vizkopa , and Sin Collector ,

White is used in conjunction with red for Assemble the Legion .

Black is used for Thoughtseize , Doom Blade , Dark Betrayal , Hero's Downfall , and to a lesser extent Whip of Erebos .

Black is used in conjunction with red for Slaughter Games , and Rakdos's Return .

Red is used for Mizzium Mortars , Anger of the Gods , Lightning Strike , and Magma Jet .

The two most popular control decks right now are Esper (W/U/B) and America (W/U/R). Each has it's own merits, but the reasons Grixis (U/B/R) isn't too popular right now is because to be a good control deck, you need lots of mana early. Because of restrictive double-costs, you end up needing multiple dual lands early. To enter these duals untapped, you need to pay 2 life. America and Esper can take this life-loss because of Sphinx's Revelation . Grixis, however, must have more removal and counterspells with no way of gaining life.

If you want to go control, I'd suggest Esper or America. Pros and cons of Esper are:

+Versatile early game answers

+More removal helps early and late game

+Better in control matchup because of cards like Duress , Sin Collector and Thoughtseize

-Earliest board wipe is turn 4

-Blood Baron of Vizkopa is Mizzium Mortars 'd in the America matchup

America pros and cons:

+Able to remove early creatures

+Has better topdecks since it's removal can hit players

+Magma Jet lets you scry 2, while esper lacks a good scry source

+Can boardwipe turn 3 with Anger of the Gods

+Hits Esper's Blood Baron of Vizkopa with Mizzium Mortars

-Hard to remove creatures late game

-No true evasive creatures, save AEtherling

-Assemble the Legion is a little bit slow

The choice is yours, but I went Esper just for the better control matchup. Have fun playing control!

@patrickloyd

Red Deck Wins (RDW) is an aggressive deck that aims to win quickly. Some versions run Fanatic of Mogis to deal huge amounts of damage at once, and others run lots of 1 and 2 drops to win the game as fast as possible. Some example lists are here and here.

There are plenty of other aggressive decks doing well in Standard currently, including Mono Blue Devotion and Selesnya Aggro.

So for dealing a lot of damage as fast as possible you would want to play RDW (Red deck wins) for fast beat ups. You can search TappedOut for other RDW decks and get ideas of them.

RDW is short for Red Deck Wins, its typically mono red, but variations do exist. I think aggro is the best choice for fast damage, and RDW is one of the best archetypes for it.
