The deck that I'm in the process of building is Black and Red. It has a lot of zombies that have infect. It also has ways of giving other creatures infect. If I need to, I can give an opponent's creature infect just so I can use Burn the Impure on it.
I like the concept of yours, though. Make creatures unblockable or bigger depending on the situation. Pistus Strike is a good card. I would add three more to the side board and take out three of the Mental Misstep . There's not a whole lot of one casting cost spells that you would need to counter. And the more poison counters you can hand out, the better. Also, if you can get one, throw in a Decimator Web . That will help the opponent get to the lethal 10 Poison Counters and destroy their library at the same time. They'll start to worry about losing cards and before they can stop it, they're already at 10 poisons.
Was that helpful?

I agree, Infect decks, if well designed, are so fun to play with! With my newest Undying Ebola deck, I've found myself in situations such as opponent has like 1 poison counter and I'm left with 3~5 or so life. ONE decent draw plus ANY infect creature under my control = easily 9+ poison counters in just one swing! :-)

Thanks for the suggestions JakServant, but are just 3 I can think of off the top of my head from Inestrad alone that people are running in a lot of tournament decks right now. Ponder comes up alot, do does Geistflame . There is nothing more annoying then Geistflame taking out my Glistener Elf on turn 1. Elite Vanguard comes up a lot. Tormented Soul , Llanowar Elves , Birds of Paradise , plus a lot of really annoying goblins like Goblin Arsonist . This list goes on and on. Mental Misstep is a pretty good sideboard card right now.
